How's the View?

That's awesome, but kinda freaky at the same time.

It would kind of weird me out to glance up from my work and see some dude, suspended in mid-air, washing my window.

Window washing has to be one of those jobs that you either love or can't do. If Memphis had more tall buildings, maybe there would be some around here that we could talk to. Alas.

Is this the first window washer featured on the BPP blog? I smell a 'Meet the Firsts' story idea...

just curious...did you ask his permission first? and, do you think the window washer ever turns around to enjoy the view???

I did ask his permission, and he actually said it's a pretty common request.

And yes R.S., it did weird me out. It was an especially strange visual because when I first noticed him he was out there smoking a cigarette. I thought to myself, "I've heard of stepping outside for a smoke..."

As someone who lives in Indiana and works in an office where my one small window looks out to the rest of the office, I find this situation totally bizarre. Note to self: leave the cornfields and experience this window washing phenomenon firsthand.

Dan Pashman, you should be ashamed, Sir. Ashamed! Clearly, by taking the photo as the washer is outside, elevated, climbing in a way, on the side of the building in New York city... you are depicting the window washer as....

KING KONG!

This type of photographic slur has no place in modern society. Hang your head in shame, Sir. I would expect this kind of thing from Vogue... but here, from you? I am aghast.

:)
