Linkfest: Confidence Key to 'American Idol' Win

David Cook played his way to the top of American Idol yesterday. "As far as I'm concerned," he said, "the competition's over and we're just having fun." Sounds like a rock star to me. You?

It's the Most.

A surprise as fans pick a 7th "Idol"/ Pilots run out of fuel, pray, land safely near Jesus sign/ Tire danger: the cryptic code that could save your life/ Sleepy brain prone to sudden shutdowns/ Fleet Week 2008: Ships, helicopter raids & more/ Getting into college is easier with a gladiator at your side

In the top story about the farm bill, what's the "boo veto" sound clip? I thought the first time I heard it that it was the "whammie" noise from that old game show with the whammies. The second time it sounded like something from Scooby Doo. What the heck is it?!

I think it was just a national reaction to electing a Monchichi. My wife did point out that during the Guitar Hero commericals, one of the contestants (Cook) wore more-revealing underwear than the other (Archuleta), which was itself more revealing then template garments.

I completely agree with Supervising Senior Producer, Matt Martinez- I was extremely happy that David Cook won over the saccharine, boring, blandness of David Archuleta. The kid has a voice, but needs to add something genuine to his performances... maybe as he matures and become less naive...

Simon's about face (apologizing to Cook) made me think that he had to say something nice because he knew in advance that Cook had won. It doesn't look good for the judges to heap praise on a contestant (they implied he was the obvious winner) and then have him lose.

I can't believe I wrote this much about American Idol...

Jesus averts crash: The only thing is, we don't hear alot from all the guys who prayed to Jesus and whose planes crashed anyway...

And if this plane had crashed next to the Jesus sign, well that would have been taken to mean that Jesus was looking out for their souls.

Religion: You just can lose!

Will David Cook be doing a concert in Bryant Park soon?
