Bones and U-whonow? There was no Trek before Jean-Luc.

Hmm the thing NASA knew was there but was couldn't find until now.... a very lost Voyager trapped in a time paradox that made it impossible to find for 50 years in our time but was only lost for seven years in their time? Whee paradox.

@Maura: "There was no Trek before Jean-Luc."

You tryin' to start somethin'? The next generation might have slightly better TV episodes, some of the time, but TNG movies smelled. They smelled bad. Give me "Wrath of Kahn" or "The Voyage Home" over anything Jean-Luc did. Okay, maybe "First Contact" wasn't too awful. Of course Firefly made both of them look silly. It showed the world how to do television SF right... and then Fox killed it. Bastages.

Dave Wiley, I know I was throwing around fightin' words. But that's the truth in my heart.

But I'm right there with you on Firefly. At least we still have Battlestar Galactica.

@Maura "At least we still have Battlestar Galactica."

Yeah. I was surprised to find myself liking it. I was more surprised when my wife liked it too. Then again she appreciates good writing in almost any form.

Whatver your opinions on TNG and original Trek, I think we can all agree that DS9 rules over all, kindly and benevolently, like a Space Pope.

PS - Even if the original Trek movies are better, there's still more quality content spread across the 7 TNG seasons than the original TV series and movies put together.

Greg,
I'm not partial to DS9 but the idea of a Space Pope makes me giggle like a 6 year old. Congrats on the best analogy ever.

Dave Wiley and Maura,
If you haven't browsed the Firefly comics, I strongly suggest it. It bridges the series and the movie so the changes in the movie make sense.

Greg, while I like DS9 a lot, it never eclipsed my love of TNG. It did, however, have by far the best theme song of all Treks, ever.

And I agree that the concept of a Space Pope is quite a treat. I would argue that BSG is the Space Pope of current SF TV and that its style of rule is buttkicking and nametaking.
