Linkfest: The World's Largest Restaurant

A Syrian restaurant, Damascus Gate, has set a new record as the largest eatery on the planet. Diners at the 6,014-seat restaurant can choose from Chinese, Indian or Middle Eastern cuisine.

While it is impressive, it is also so ironic and sad. Nobody asked who is the real owner of the restaurant in a country where there is two men that own the country's oil, Internet, mobile service provider, not to mention the land-grabs that allowed them to sell the country one square inch at a time to investors, without letting one penny enter the budget.

re Venice. Water bottles are such a problem here (in France). If only the pols who claim to be so green would do something smart, like impose deposits on beverage containers...
