Budget director Orszag testifies at a June hearing on Capitol Hill.

But our happiness over wedding plans by White House Budget Director Peter Orszag and his new fiancee, ABC News' Bianna Golodryga, was tempered a bit by a report that he just fathered a child with a shipping heiress he left not long before hooking up with the glamorous TV correspondent.

Following the money in health care is something we do nearly every day. And we've listened raptly as Orszag explained how the Democrats' plans for health overhaul would cut costs and eliminate waste.

But talking a walk on the tabloidy side stumped us. So we turned to the Daily Show's Jon Stewart to deconstruct uber-nerd Orszag's "magnetic machismo." Here goes.

Just to bring you up to date, Orszag and Claire Milonas, the ex-girlfriend, said in a widely quoted statement:

We were in a committed relationship until the spring of 2009. In November, Claire gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Although we are no longer together, we are both thrilled she is happy and healthy, and we would hope that everyone will respect her privacy.

Last April, Orszag appeared on the Daily Show as pitch man for the administration's budget. You can watch him explain federal spending priorities and health care overhaul here and here. For even more, the New Yorker featured a behind-the-scenes account of that segment, including a cameo by Milonas.

Finally, for some women's views on Orszag's appeal, check out this report from CNN's Jeanne Moos on the "nerdy playboy."
