'Birther' Disrupts U.S. House Constitution Reading

The reading of the Constitution in the House is over but not without incident.

A "birther" self-identified as "Theresa" shouted "Except Obama" as Rep. Frank Pallone, a New Jersey Democrat, read the section laying out the constitutional qualifications for president.

Politico reports the woman uttered:

... "Except Obama, except Obama. Help us Jesus."

An officer removed her from the gallery as she yelled out "My name is Theresa."

"You're under arrest," the officer could be heard telling her as he led her through double doors at the back of the chamber.

Politico's video snippet shows that the House parliamentarian was ready. He handed note cards with the appropriate warnings and commands to the lawmaker presiding over the chamber.

My fellow NPR blogger, Mark Memmott, tells me that, for the record, it took 1 hour, 24 minutes and 24 seconds for the reading of the Constitution, give or take a few seconds for the "birther" outburst.
