Okay, biggest spit-take I've had in while is you holding up "Let It Bleed" and saying "Good job, Rolling Stones."

Insightful!

But seriously, this was hilarious, thank you. Also, dig the holiday-sounding saxophone in the background. Nice touch. 2009 can't come fast enough.

Sent by Patrick Caldwell | 1:40 PM | 12-13-2007

I'm so jealous of your record collection.
but I'm excited about this vblog thingy.

Sent by Jenni | 1:45 PM | 12-13-2007

2009? But I want to see your thoughts on Let It Bleed NOW. 2009? What, are you joining the writer's strike?

Sent by Jim Brucker | 2:06 PM | 12-13-2007

Whoa, Bill Fay in the background? You have stolen my heart, woman!

Sent by Geoff | 2:17 PM | 12-13-2007

Oh my god for sure, Taang! That makes me feel olde.

Sent by Chriso | 2:33 PM | 12-13-2007

Superclever! This rocks.

This is an excellent companion to the stellar new sketch-comedy video just added at www.thunderant.com called "The Perfect Song"

For the uninitiated, Thunderant is a sketch-comedy project website started by Carrie Brownstein and Fred Armisen (of SNL) that brokers in hilariously awkward situations like cloying dates and the politics of feminist bookstores.

Sorry Carrie, hope you don't mind the plug! Keep up the great work. Funny funny stuff!!!

Sent by Chad Bly | 2:52 PM | 12-13-2007

2009?!?! rip! that's the greatest thing ever. are they all alphabetical? i totally agree with joe palca.

Sent by Lauren | 2:55 PM | 12-13-2007

yes! I have that Talking Heads album. I borrowed it, more or less permenently, from my aunt along with some Elvis Costello and The Boss's Nebraska

Sent by Devin(shire) | 3:08 PM | 12-13-2007

nice record collection.
how many do you have?
and what would you say is your favorite?
top 10?

Sent by Breanna D. | 4:48 PM | 12-13-2007

Brilliance.

Sent by Angie | 5:50 PM | 12-13-2007

Full circle from a previous entry:
"Let It Bleed" is one of the records I found in my stepfather's collection.

Sent by mikey | 6:01 PM | 12-13-2007

This is so great. Please make it a regular feature - then we can do vlog responses with choice cuts of our own. Battle of the vinyl shufflers.

I really enjoy your blog Ms B.

Sent by Julia | 6:17 PM | 12-13-2007

coolest... vlog... evar.

Maybe you'll stick a book in there randomly to review? I'm always looking for a good book and you seem to know some good ones.

Sent by joe | 7:07 PM | 12-13-2007

Quite a novel idea. I came across this today in my surfing, it's a website devoted to weird records. Enjoy.

Sent by Lee | 7:20 PM | 12-13-2007

I really hope there are more vlogs from you Carrie.

Sent by Gary Drechsel | 7:44 PM | 12-13-2007

wonderful. the pastels. now i'll always want to pronounce their name incorrectly. will this vlog tell us where we can find 1960s commercial instrumentals like the one feature in this entry? i certainly hope so.

Actually, the music is from the intro to a Bill Fay song. He is amazing. -CB

Sent by nikki | 8:16 PM | 12-13-2007

Nice record collection. The only downside to having one that big: lugging it all around when you move. I practically need a separate U-Haul just for that.

Hilarious new episode of Thunderant, too.

Sent by Karissa | 8:58 PM | 12-13-2007

Brilliant! This is how record reviews should be done...forever.

What I want to know is where can I get the record for the soundtrack for True Stories film performed by the actors and not the talking heads, but of the actors giving their interpretations of talking heads songs...

Sent by salena | 11:45 PM | 12-13-2007

That was amazing. I'd also like to say that the new Thunderant made me laugh ridiculously hard, a nice closer to my week.

But 2009? Can it be before? Please?

Sent by Kirie | 12:48 AM | 12-14-2007

Ha, Ha. Priceless. See I told you girl. I knew it. That was fun, and totally "with it." Great idea, btw, muchas kudos to you senorita. Hey, wait a sec, that's a quick recovery from the flu. Thankfully for you it wasn't a 102-103 degree type of thing.

N' what's with all this 'ThunderAnt' stuff? I thought it was some new alternative band that I was out of the loop of when I first noticed it many blog's ago, or, err, last month.

Again.., that was witty.

Sent by |3rian | 1:13 AM | 12-14-2007

Harvey's Irony-o-meter is picking up a signal...

Sent by Harvey Biloba | 1:41 AM | 12-14-2007

I laughed.

Sent by Simon | 1:55 AM | 12-14-2007

Brilliant! You make surfing the internet at work a completely justifiable endeavor.

Sent by ljc | 9:18 AM | 12-14-2007

hilarious.you should record an album that is only you reading liner notes.

Sent by trish | 9:43 AM | 12-14-2007

hahaha..true stories...you sounded sarcastic when you were reading David Byrne's liner notes. I'm a huge TH fan. Are you?

Anyways, well done....you're awesome Carrie...
loved the new ThundeAnt..

Sent by Raul De La Cruz | 10:31 AM | 12-14-2007

Pink belt!

Sent by Seth Elliott Meyer | 11:09 AM | 12-14-2007

Carrie, you rock (in more ways than one!) Loved the vlog, can't wait for more!

Sent by Ellen | 12:19 PM | 12-14-2007

Steve Inskeep would totally say that. Nice work with the iMovie friend.

Sent by Yuri | 1:26 PM | 12-14-2007

Does anyone out there have Flux-compasidor??? My DeLorean is in the shop, and I know would like to skip right past 2008...

After seeing that Wall of records... I now am glad, I started getting into music in the age of CD's... But at the same time... a crappy record tends to get lost amonst the rest of the collection... where you cant really hide the big wide double CD "Michael Jackson HIStory" from the rest of your cd collection... (Oh trust me, I have even worse from back in my DJ'ing days... maybe I should take them to Goodwill)

Sent by Kramer | 1:39 PM | 12-14-2007

I'm just happy that you used the word "vlog" rather than "vodcast" or "v-log." Shuttering just thinking about it.

Meanwhile, maybe from now on we could use "Palca" as the official greeting on your site. Perhaps it could be like aloha and you could use it for goodbye as well.

Sent by andy carvin, npr | 1:54 PM | 12-14-2007

You remind me of my childhood.
Namely, because you are a goof.
Secondly...
as a kid I would pull a record and another and another out of alignment to gaze at the brightly hued, mushroomy covers. Then my dad would groan at the stacks of alphabetizing I had created for him.

& thanks for the laughter [yet again]

Sent by Zia | 2:38 PM | 12-14-2007

Don't stop - go go go! It's laugh-out-loud good and so, so musically wise...

Sent by Jill Foster | 4:12 PM | 12-14-2007

Utterly riveting!

Sent by setya | 9:13 PM | 12-14-2007

you're not like one of those nerds who will sit in front of their wall of records talking about their collection until you quietly back out of the door and run away. right?
i once had a flatmate who'd do that and then occasionally even followed me to my room with a bunch of records yelling about how everyone is connected to mike watt!
i am sure he is reading this. hello andi. XD

Sent by Lisa | 8:31 AM | 12-15-2007

Thankfully, I'm this funny!

Well done.

Sent by Jason M. | 11:49 AM | 12-16-2007

Have you considered using Vimeo instead of YouTube to host videos? It's a much better alternative in my opinion. I only suggest it because I hate YouTube so much. I think you deserve better.

Sent by Sam | 12:52 PM | 12-16-2007

Where can I get shelves like that for my records?

Sent by The S | 6:46 PM | 12-17-2007

Hey! C'mon, Carrie. The Primitives were a good band!

They were no Darling Buds, however.

Sent by Kevin | 4:47 PM | 12-18-2007

I hope there are more vlogs comin'! I liked this... heh, whether it was meant to be ironic or not. The bit with your "shuffling" is priceless.

(Let it Bleed is my favourite Stones album! But screw True Stories. Augh, that's gotta be my least favourite TH rekkid. They went from Talking Heads to, like, The David Byrne Show: now with two hundred present MORE PRETENSION! /rant)

Sent by Anna | 5:03 PM | 1-9-2008

I hope to see much more of these in the future. To hell with ipods and all mp3 players alike.....okay so mine is broken but I really enjoyed this vlog. Absolutely hilairious!
