Fox's Fringe: Will earnest brooding be enough to keep Joshua Jackson gainfully employed?
The first few significant ratings numbers for the fall season have rolled in, and it's safe to say nothing is looking hit-like yet. Not a surprise, given the thoroughly unexciting offerings. A few highlights:
• The new
Being that I was starting to work on my first major Grad School assignment... I left my TV on solely for background noise. Then Fringe came on.
Every so often it would catch my attention. Perhaps due to the music composed by the same guy who did Cloverfield (wow... I wonder how he got this job?)...
My overall review:
Something about a plane... and then jellyfish looking people? She gets dunked in a tank?
Honestly, I have no idea what happened.
The pace was slow. It was choppy... and sort of boring.
I watched Hole in the Wall tonight. I'll give it another view before I make up my mind. I had just watched an episode of Wipeout, which may have prejudiced me. If you haven't tried Wipeout (8pm, Tue, ABC), and you like Hole in the Wall you are definitely missing out.
Despite the fact I just made Wipeout sound like a knock off perfume.
Of course, House wasn't House for its first several episodes, either -- until it went on after that singing show, whereupon it swiftly picked up and held an audience that made it the hit that it deserved to be. There's still hope for Fringe!
