Katherine Heigl as Izzie Stevens on Grey's Anatomy
ABC

Izzie Stevens: Is Grey's Anatomy's most polarizing character ready to begin a death rattle?

I'm not sure "terrifying mother" is the highest use of the talents of Christine Baranski, but she will appear on Ugly Betty tonight in just that role: mom to Betty's boyfriend, Matt. Also continuing his guest run is Ralph Macchio, who seems only a handful of years older than he was in The Karate Kid, frankly. (ABC, 8 p.m.)

Tori Spelling completists will want to note her appearance on tonight's Smallville. (CW, 8 p.m.)

We're entering the boring part of the Survivor season, where everyone seems to outlast his or her abilities and the annoying people never leave as soon as you want them to. But at least the continuing adventures of Coach, who has not read my admittedly forthcoming book, Ten Ways To Lose At Survivor Beginning With Appointing Yourself Everyone's Coach, continue to amuse. (CBS, 8 p.m.)

You know what Hell's Kitchen has been needing to involve itself with? A bar mitzvah! Fortunately, that oversight will be rectified tonight. (Fox, 9 p.m.)

Finally — finally! — on tonight's Grey's Anatomy, Izzie will apparently learn what's been wrong with her all season that's been causing her to rekindle her romance with her dead boyfriend. You know, there was a character on All My Children long ago who went upstairs to wax his skis and was never heard from again. Does Izzie ski? Because seriously, it is so past time. And I hereby propose that all characters who need to be eliminated tout de suite be referred to as "in need of a ski-waxing." (ABC, 9 p.m.)

It sounds like Kevin's pursuit of last week's redhead is going to continue on tonight's The Office, where he will get differing advice from Jim, Pam, and Andy. So he will either wind up pining for several years, getting rashly engaged, or...getting rashly engaged. (NBC, 9 p.m.)

At long last, Celebrity Rehab Presents: Sober House, which turned into a relapse-of-the-week nightmare several weeks ago, reaches an end. I'm hoping all of these people will report immediately to Sober House 2: Actual Sober House, which will not be televised. (VH1, 10 p.m.)
