Read:
• Ricky Gervais' star continues to rise, and while it appears he won't be starring in the film Men From The Pru, it sounds like an intriguing project, and it would be awfully encouraging to see him become a guy who can get a movie made, even if he's not going to be the star.
• If you haven't checked out what David Simon is planning to do now that he's done with The Wire, PopWatch has been tracking the development of his new show, Treme.
Note:
• iTunes has chosen this moment to raise prices. Or at least some prices. Goodbye, universal 99-cent pricing; hello, "You'll have to see how much that particular song costs." Bad timing, at the very least. (Hat-tip to Vulture.)
• Lost fans: Check out these vintage Dharma ads, courtesy of the folks at Hot Meteor Design.
• You almost certainly did not watch NBC's The Chopping Block, so you almost certainly are not concerned about its cancellation. But what makes this story interesting is that you have to do really badly to be canned as a reality competition show that isn't over yet (in other words, hasn't revealed a winner).
The most spectacular example in history is CBS's Pirate Master, from Survivor guru Mark Burnett. It didn't even survive its first season when it aired in the summer of 2007.
The story says the rest of the episodes will air "at some point."
Ignore:
• I'm going to do all I can to ignore Padma Lakshmi's new ad for Carl's Jr., because if I don't, it will be awkward to look her in the eye when Top Chef starts up again. Like trying to have a conversation after accidentally walking in on someone in the shower. I recommend you do the same.
