When I woke up this morning and saw the headline Give Chickpeas A Chance, I knew the time had come to salute one of my favorite NPR.org oddities: the food-pun headline.

Now, some food headlines are simply great in their own rights, and I just enjoy saying them over and over and over again — Demystifying The Quince! Cilantro: The Controversial Herb! — but for some reason, there is an abundance of very excellent food puns, beyond "Give Chickpeas A Chance," and I decided it was time to share a roundup of some of my favorites. So give these headline writers a hand. And also a rowdy "BOOOOOOO!"
