The description of tonight's Lie To Me (8:00 p.m.! Fox!) is as follows: "After a young woman dies at a gubernatorial campaign rally in Virginia, The Lightman Group is hired to assess whether the case is a failed assassination attempt or a well-disguised murder plot." I'm thinking that the line between "assassination attempt" and "murder plot" is rather thin conceptually. Maybe they're giving the former a bonus for ambition?

Also at 8:00, ABC unveils the blessed event that is The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All. Plus! You get the value-added sneak preview of the new series Bachelor Pad. This is followed at 10:00 by 20/20's "The Stories Behind The Rose," which among other things purports to share "five missed signals about Jake and Vienna's doomed relationship." That's three straight hours of The Bachelor/ette without encountering an actual episode of The Bachelor/ette. I don't think that Jake and Vienna's relationship is the only thing that's doomed.

If it's two hours of cake you prefer, TLC would like you to consider Cake Boss (9:00) and Fabulous Cakes (10:00).

On The Good Guys (9:00! FOX!), "Dan goes undercover into the world of organized crime." Since Dan can't even successfully go undercover into the world of the Dallas Police Department, I'm thinking that he will encounter problems.

Other 9:00 options include Top Gear (BBC America), Last Comic Standing (NBC) and The Closer (TNT).

Finally, tonight offers a new episode of Keith Sweat's Platinum House (8:00 p.m.! Centric, whatever that is!). I know nothing about this show, and I choose not to, but the title, and the mental image of Mr. Sweat that it plants in my head, is too good not to mention it just the once. Now let us never speak of it again.
