The Toronto International Film Festival is dealing with a particularly unpleasant problem, and it's not an excess of bad movies: it's the possibility of bedbugs.

Sometimes, the simplest analysis is the best: Best Week Ever presents The 21 Tannest People At The Emmys.

If you followed the discussion of Lindsay Lohan in last week's Pop Culture Happy Hour, you might take an interest in what seem to be her first tentative steps toward rehabilitating her image.

And another follow-up: We talked a little about the "chick lit"/Jonathan Franzen business last week; this week, NPR's Lynn Neary has a piece in which she talks to Jennifer Weiner, along with Jane Smiley.

An idea I must regretfully endorse: booting miniseries/movie categories out of the primetime Emmy broadcast, with perhaps just the best movie award left in. There just aren't enough of these being made anymore for them to occupy such an enormous (and often dull) stretch of the show. Yes, seeing Temple Grandin was great, but that is the exception, and not the rule.

Please enjoy WNYC's experiment in making people fight (and I say that with love): Beatles vs. Stones.
