A while ago, we talked about some of our Pop Culture Blind Spots, from Tolkien to Modern Family to Friday Night Lights. You might have thought, when we agreed to take a shot at reevaluating them, that we were just blowing smoke.

You would be wrong.

This week, we update you on our efforts to reconsider our blind spots. Stephen explores reading, through your suggestion of The Hunger Games! Glen watches a whole season of television about football! Trey makes peace with Phil Dunphy! I totally intended to read The Hobbit and fell victim to a very petty crime! Kind of! Possibly!

We then go a round of What's Making Us Happy This Week, from the gruesome "charms" of The A-List to the finer points of raising the nerds of the future.

Please join me, Stephen Thompson, Glen Weldon and Trey Graham for another rollicking edition of Pop Culture Happy Hour. Subscribe to NPR's arts podcast Culturetopia to get all the roundtable goodness as soon as it's available.

A Note: Listening back, I heard myself say "chick books." Oy. BAD SELF. Bad habits are hard to break.
