The Green Hornet had a reasonably strong opening at the box office in its first four days — $40 million and first place. For those of you who like highly specialized superlatives, that's the biggest opening ever for "a live-action superhero comedy."

Over at FirstShowing.net, they've got a nice roundup of movies that have relatively recently become available on Netflix Instant, including Shutter Island, An Education, Goodfellas, and Network.

The BAFTA nominations are out. That would be the set of awards that are American-ocentrically referred to as the "British Oscars." And you'll find that the nominees closely resemble the ones you might expect to see when the Oscar nominations are announced on January 25 (that's a week from today).

Cinematical runs down a list of some of the women presenting films at Sundance.

You might remember that in the course of not liking CBS's daytime show The Talk, I mentioned that the sprawling six-mom cast was "ripe for change as things shake out." As if by magic, Marissa Jaret Winokur is leaving the show, saying that she wasn't getting enough airtime.
