Pop Culture Happy Hour: What Are Critics For, And What's Culture Worth?

On this week's Pop Culture Happy Hour, while Glen is on vacation, we are hugely psyched (sorry, I don't know how else to put it!) to be visited by Tanya Ballard Brown, who normally works in actual news (!!) but also has strong opinions about Green Lantern and Idris Elba. (Particularly Idris Elba. Opinions that I share. Wait, I am becoming distracted.)

We kick off with a discussion of the huge box office and terrible reviews for The Hangover Part 2, and what that means (if anything) for what the purpose of criticism actually is. How do critics help some movies, if in fact they do? When can you safely ignore them?

From there, it's on to a discussion of Pop Culture Price Tags: What things that we pay for seem like great bargains versus total rip-offs? (Yes, this brings us to 3D, as well as some other things with hefty price tags.)

And finally, as always, it's What's Making Us Happy This Week.

As always you can follow us on Twitter: me, Trey, Stephen, Tanya and Mike. (And if you still remember him, Glen what's-his-name.) Or, of course, find us on Facebook.
