We haven't rushed to judgment in some time — at least not out loud — and we haven't dealt much at all with the upcoming Snow White And The Huntsman, so let's get to it.
There are a couple of trailers out now, including this one that's fairly recent. In it, there's a certain amount of laying out of the story — Snow White and the Queen, the Queen's desire to literally consume Snow White (a detail so gruesome it often doesn't make the cheerier versions of this story), and so forth.
Of course, this is not Snow White as she is often imagined. Here, she has a sword. And some armor. And she's not kidding about it.
What's intriguing about this trailer isn't necessarily the story, the outlines of which seem fairly clear. It's not even the acting, despite the fact that Charlize Theron is a pretty powerful actress, and Kristen Stewart is a lot more than Twilight, as she's shown in films like Adventureland. What's intriguing is the imaginative imagery: a fascination with birds and fire, a really scary-looking woods, and Theron presented in a whole series of images of horror and beauty and sex.
What do you think? Yes? No? More excited about the Julia Roberts version?
