Remember the saying, hope springs eternal? A visitor came to our house. We'd never met. She felt like she knew me. She certainly felt like she knew Leroy. She's a life-giver and she reads Leroy's blogs to her mom, who has an advanced cancer. She says his blogs are what give her mother hope.
As we talked, I learned this cancer patient is also a survivor of a different kind. She is a Holocaust survivor. She got through that horror to live a life, and now, to live to fight again. This time she's up against melanoma.
I'm proud to think she leans on Leroy's words to give her hope. Her daughter is afraid to give her mother the news that Leroy has passed away. She's afraid the hope will slowly slip through her mother's fingers like the sand through an hour glass. But it won't.
The beauty of Leroy's message is that it is eternal. He had hope in the beginning of his cancer struggle, and he still had it at the end. Cancer exploded in his body, but it never touched his heart, and that's where the hope lived.
It sounds to me like this woman has a heart similar to Leroy's. Remember, she survived the Holocaust. Hope has been in her life for a very long time.
Wishing everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. The blog will return on Monday.
