Team Leroy

One hundred thousand apply. Over 38 thousand take a stand at the starting line. They raise over 18 million dollars for worthy causes. Very impressive numbers, I would say.

But it was runner number 17384 that I was most interested in last Sunday, when the starter's gun went off at the New York City Marathon.

Courtney King, aka "Team Leroy", was running with her good friend in mind and wearing a T-shirt that said it all: "Imagine a World without Cancer."

Cancer patients at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center will benefit from Courtney's 26.2 mile run. She finished in 3 hours, 40 minutes and 14 seconds. Her best time ever!

But I'm not surprised. She had a strong force pushing her across the finish line. If it were measured in feet and inches, my guess is it was about 6-foot 5 and would have fit perfectly into size 13 running shoes.

Yup, "the force" was with her.
