What Should the Future Hold for Harry Potter?

(Spoiler alert: Don't read any further if you haven't had a chance to read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yet.)

It didn't take very long for this idea to surface.

In her glowing review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for Forbes, writer Lisa LaMotta argues that Harry must keep going and that the series should not end. But who should take over from J.K. Rowling now that Harry is grown up? Apparently, book chain Borders polled 1,500 people in Britain, and "their favorite, by far, is Irvine Welsh, author of the drug- and sex-filled novels Trainspotting and Porno."

Oh my. That would make for, er, interesting reading, indeed. But what do you think? Is Harry done? Or should he have some grown-up (although not necessary "adult") adventures as well?

I'm sure you didn't intend for that to be a spoiler, but...thanks a lot! It did only come out a week ago, I would've appreciated some time to read it for myself.

(Editor's Note: Sorry about that, Michelle. We've added a spoiler alert. Thank you for pointing it out.)

As is true in many things in life, some things do have to end, though I have not aquired the latest edition, I have enjoyed reading about Harry through the previous six installments.

I wonder if Ms Rowling, or anyone else would be up to the daunting question of, "What now?" and just how to proceed. I'm not sure if that's a threshhold that even SHOULD be crossed.

I have a feeling that Harry might take a back seat to his son Albus...

The series is just that, a series. it has to end. It eas great while it lasted. Don't try to manipulate the last 10 years into something other than a phenomenal journy. End of story.

I say enough with Harry already. All things must come to an end. The fans will get over it, I assure you.

I think the story should go back not ahead. Perhaps lets look closer at the life of James and Lilly at Hogwarts and see what made Tom Riddle all crazy

This is a spoiler so if you haven't finished or haven't started No. 7 don't read on.....Hasn't anyone wondered why there are 19 years between the end of the battle at Hogwarts and the epiloque? Could it be that J.K. has propted open a window of opportunity to enable her to expand on Harry's adventures during that time. Also please examine the page where people are staring at Harry and he replies by saying (not exact quote, yes, I am famous. Maybe the Wizarding world has a longer memory than us Muggles who forget yesterday's news just as fast as today's news comes out or could it be that something else made him famous during those 19 years. Well, it's something to think about and J.K. hasn't said never.

I look to China to produce endless sequels of varying hues...RK now is superfluous...Long Live Harry with adventures even as a centenarian.

We need someone to publish the pre-harry material - new prequel series should be on shelves in 5 years. Better get started. Chop, Chop!

I think Harry needs to go over to the dark side and run off with Malfoy.

Like star wars had a beggining so does harry potter. Bring to life the beginning of Hogwarts and his parents and the fight over good and evil, with Tom Riddle and his life.

If J.K.R. isn't wriitng any more, perhaps the rights for prequels could be sold off separate to sequels and also spin offs. There is so much material that could yet be explored.
