Some of the Best Political Videos of 2007

One of the biggest political trend of 2007 was the use of YouTube as an outlet for political messages. (Heck, CNN built two whole debates around the technology.) And so, TechPresident has put together its list of the best political videos of 2007 - they are all available on YouTube of course.

First TechPresident offers its ten-best videos made by the candidates' campaigns - "official" ads. It rates the "Students for Obama" video number one and "a great piece of campaign propaganda." The Hillary Clinton-Sopranos parody was number two, while the Clinton's took number three as well with "Caucusing is easy" which features a hamburger, Bill Clinton, and Hillary singing the national anthem. (Be afraid, be very afraid.)

It also offers up the top-ten voter-generated videos. Number one, and still the most viewed political video this year: the Hillary Clinton 1984 video that's a take off of the famous Apple McIntosh ad. In fact, Sen. Clinton is the "subject" of the all of the top four videos in this list. (Mind you, there's something here to offend the supporters of most candidates.)

After looking at both lists, you would hope that Clinton remembers the words of Oscar Wilde: "The only thing worse than being talked about it being not talked about."

I suppose this is as good a spot to begin discussion about conspiracy theories as any. Being that video plays a large part in the ever growing phenomenon of conspiracy theories.

What's wrong with conspiracy theories in the state that they've grown into, you ask?

Well, allow me to point out two conspiracy theories that are making the internet rounds. Two conspiracy theories that insult American soldiers and veterans alike.

One, there is the conspiracy theory that the American soldiers killing in Iraq numbers over 78,000. That the government has somehow mysteriously covered up the conspiracy theorist's numbers of dead American troops.

Two, the conspiracy theorists are spreading the word that during World War Two, General Eisenhower ordered the secret executions of 1.7 million German POWs.

If anyone wonders why America has grown weary of conspiracy theories, why the majority of Americans no longer have a tolerance for the conpsiracy theory assembly line.....I've just provided two examples why the majority of Americans are plain sick and tired of conspiracy theorists.

Particularly Americans who are veterans, who have served in the military.

So, seven years of unbridled conspiracy theory throwing is coming back to haunt you.

Conspiracy theories have become pure spam.

So goes the problem that too many have not had the experience of having had to serve or fight for freedom. All they've done is talk, talk, talk.....and talk badly.

It was people like these foul conspiracy theorists that would treat the American soldier and veteran with such disrespect that Andrew Jackson would have gladly challenged to a duel.

That would be an ideal venture for Youtube to present.

This letter is in response to Fred Camorra comments about conspiracy theorists.

Fortunately for the new generations to come, society will prove Mr. Camorra dead wrong.

The fact is there is a movement that seems to be happening globally. Not just here in America but the Powers that have controlled the media and the banks throughout the last century are coming to an end. Whether it's Pakistan or Kenya, North Korea or Myanmar, China or America all across the Planet were noticing an uprising against those who choose to control the masses. Australia seemed to be first with their new elected president and many more countries will see the same shift in political power over the next two years.

This radical shift in Political power, on such a global scale, will indeed cause a shift in human consciousness. No matter that the numbers are of dying soldiers it's one too many. We can run a world where we talk to our neighbors not demand from them. Not blow them up and then rebuild them so they will like us. This idea of one country managing another country is absurd. We say, "What shall we do in Pakistan now that Mrs. Bhutto has been killed and there is civil war?" It's very easy it's not our country. This is not a conspiracy theory just the truth. If China felt our economy was weakening and their investments could be lost so they decide to intervene with our elections. We would never stand for it so why should the rest of the world have to be under our control.

This mind set of controlling the planet is in our best interest of safety has been spun by the national media for too long. We were told to fear Iran because of their nuclear surge towards making a bomb. In fact our own President was telling us monthly to fear them and demand that they stop immediately with any progress towards developing a nuclear arsenal. But, after 4 months of propaganda we now learn that the white house new all along that Iran stopped four years ago. The President say's he's sorry and were all suppose to say no problem, honest mistake.

It has moved from conspiracy theorist to freedom revolutionaries who much like Paul Revere are spreading the word among the streets that the Media, Elite Bankers, and Oil Men of the world have been lying to us to have their way. It's not a conspiracy Mr. Camorra it's the truth.

Every male in family parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on has fought in a war. We are true patriots of freedom and the liberty. We fought for peace and for the safety of our families. My father was drafted in Vietnam. He passed out in the driveway the day he received his draft letter. My grandmother talks about seeing him face down in the asphalt.

He did not want to go but his country called him to duty and he went with pride. He became one of the most decorated soldiers of the Vietnam War discovering the largest underground tunnel between north and South Vietnam. His efforts saved thousands of American lives. He says we shouldn't have been there in the first place. Is my father a conspiracy theorist Mr. Camorra? He talks against a government policy that promotes nation building and that makes him less of an American than you. I believe after four purple hearts, the bronze star for valor, and many more medals give him the right.

So speak for yourself Mr. Camorra about your lack of tolerance for the conspiracy theorist. I find that the freedom to say and speak ones mind openly and without the fear of persecution is the true American way.

I find it quite odd that Ron Paul, the YouTube community's prophet, is not mentioned in this article.

Sent by Shane Richardson: He passed out in the driveway the day he received his draft letter..... He became one of the most decorated soldiers of the Vietnam War discovering the largest underground tunnel between north and South Vietnam.

That vision made me chuckle, Shane. The day I entered into the army was the day Martin Luther King was assassinated. I'm looking around at a whole host of young black men who were, to say the least, very angry. I vividly remember saying to myself that I thought I'd have to be worrying about the Viet Cong. I came to the quick realization that I'd have to be worrying about other American soldiers.

Two months later, to the day, on my birthday, Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles. It was very apparent to me and a lot of other guys of the time that Vietnam was destined to be an unusual war. One did not know from day to day who was going to be your enemy. Who was going to shoot you. The Viet Cong or the American soldier you somehow made angry at you.

Plus, we had leaders in Vietnam who were the proverbial reincarnation of George Armstrong Custer going into the Little Big Horn Valley. Which was a major reason why so many ninety day wonder second lieutenants got fragged by their own troops.

Vietnam was a mistake compounded by adding a multitude of fools. No question about why that war went so awry so quick, and lasted so long. The sheer bureaucracy kept Vietnam going long after resuscitation proved futile.

I worked for the oxymoron of the day called Army Intelligence. Talk about personally seeing the weird and the Darwin Awards being awarded on a quotidian basis in Vietnam.

Let me tell you one of the fairly unknown secrets of Vietanm. There was this one army captain who got nominated not once, but twice for the Congressional Medal of Honor. Ask your dad how hard it is to get nominated for your country's highest military award. Then ask him how someone gets nominated twice....and never get the medal.

The answer was simple: The guy was stark raving insane. And so totally stoned on opium he could not spell fear. He was a total killing machine. Bullets miraculously missed him. He killed and killed and killed and killed so many Viet Cong that his commander put him in for the Congressional Medal, twice.

Problem was, once he started killing, he couldn't stop killing. He killed anything that moved. He killed South Vietnamese as well as North Vietnamese. The brass tried to cover up his personal atrocities, twice. It was heroic when he killed the bad guys. It was embarrassing when he killed the good guys. The brass couldn't let this guy outside for a third time. Finally, the brass shipped him out of Vietnam and back home. I never learned what happened to him. I don't know if he got proper medical treatment. I just knew that I never wanted to meet this guy in a dark alley back in the states.

You say your father discovered a V.C. underground network. If your father was a 'tunnel rat,' he was one of those guys everyone considered as being 'different.' He was small and wiry and he'd go down into a dark hole with a flashlight and a .45 automatic pistol. Sometimes there'd be a VC down there waiting for him. Sometimes there'd be a cobra waiting.

As a Vietnam veteran will tell you, things like Abu Ghraib never happened in Vietnam, simply because American soldiers didn't take prisoners. Everything was unceremoniously shot where it stood.

Okay, fast forward to Iraq. We've come a long, long way in America's military expertise. We have a professional fighting force that is smaller in numbers, far more disciplined in nature, and carrying a heckuva lot more firepower.

Sure, things go wrong in war. Mistakes are made. But by and large, today's soldier is to be highly commended for discipline and discretion. The average fighting soldier of today is far, far, far superior to the average fighting soldier of the Vietnam period.

It's apples and oranges comparing Vietnam to Iraq in those areas.

The enemy is vicious. The enemy killed over three thousand people in two buildings on 9/11. If our troops don't go after them in their own territory, they will continue to come to America and kill Americans. They will continue to blow up planeloads of American tourists overseas.

Now, the conspiracy theorists have gone all out to claim that 9/11 was an inside job performed by the CIA, the Israelis, the Da Vinci Code and just about anyone else the conspiracy theorists want to blame....except blaming the terrorist organizations.

Fine. You want to blame the CIA, that's your perogative. The CIA knows you better than you know the CIA. The CIA knows the terrorist organizations better than you know the terrorist organization.

Shane, if you think that we should have sat back and done nothing....then step aside and let the men do the work. You do not have to fear being drafted into the military as your father was. Good for you, my friend. 9/11 was a lot more real than the Gulf of Tonkin. Let the men do their work. You stay at home.

Apparently you are not listening to what I am completely telling you and others. The majority of Americans are getting very, very, very sick and tired of conspiracy theories. We feel that conspiracy theories have become the excuses of the weak and the cowardly.

Conspiracy theories have all but destroyed the credible of the Democratic Party. The Democrats have become the party of conspiracy theories run amoke. The more conspiracy theories that are created and bandied about, the more Americans are turning away from the Democratic Party.

It's a nasty world out there, filled with nasty people, and anyone who thinks that turning the other cheek will not get you shot twice, is out of touch with the reality of the world.

Plain and simple, Shane. Apples and oranges, my friend. Step aside and let the men do their work, and don't get in their way.

It's a shame that you show pride in your father's military service, while you show no pride in today's fighting soldier's work.

And I just spoke my mind freely without fear of persecution in the American way...just as you suggested it should be. At least we agree on that much.

Last Word for Mr. Camorra.

If you cared about the troops as much as you say you do then you would notice the over whelming support they are giving presidential candidate Ron Paul.

He has received more money from active soldiers and veterans than all the other candidates combined.

Yet Ron Paul thinks the war in Iraq was wrong and we shouldn't be there. The funny thing is the soldiers who are there and those who have just returned are supporting Dr. Paul.

You need to watch "outfoxed" on you tube Mr. Camorra. I believe you may receive a whole new insight into what reality really is.

I'm sure your intentions are good Mr. Camorra. I can see you love this country as do I. But I believe society is evolving and technology is allowing the masses to learn things they didn't know before. I too wanted to light up the night sky over Iraq with bombs and missiles after 9/11. In fact almost every American felt as strongly as you. But because of technology we have learned that maybe 9/11 didn't go down the way we think.

I leave you with this Mr. Camorra Rockefeller said it best when he describe the war on terror.

He said, "The thing about the war on terror is there's no enemy. People will look in caves and in the mountains but who are they looking for. Where is the Army? Where is enemy? With this kind of war it never has an end."

Look over here Mr. Camorra so you don't see what the other hand is doing.

God Bless America
