New Polls Good News for Clinton and Obama

There are polls out with good news for both Senator Hillary Clinton and Sen. Barack Obama ... and a bit of a warning for Sen. John McCain.

In Texas, a new Texas Credit Union League poll shows that Sen. Clinton continues to have a strong lead in Texas, despite her string of recent losses. The poll of 400 likely voters shows Clinton with a 49-41 edge. A Rasmussen poll shows an even larger lead - the survey of 577 likely Democratic voters shows Clinton with a 54-38 lead.

A Quinnipiac poll of Ohio of 574 likely voters shows her with a 21-point lead over Obama - 55-34, and she has a 52 percent to 36 percent lead in Pennsylvania.

The TCUL poll, however, has a bit of a warning for Republican John McCain. It shows that he only has a 44-41 lead over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. (The Rasmussen poll of 796 likely Republican voters is a bit better - 45 percent for McCain and 37 percent for Huckabee.)

Meanwhile a new Zogby poll indicates that if Sen. Barack Obama does win the Democratic nomination, he stand a good chance in a national election. Against McCain, the Zogby poll of more than 7000 online panel participants shows Obama winning 47 percent to 36 percent. (The same poll shows McCain with a 42 to 37 percent lead over Clinton.

Comments

My calculation indicates Hilary needs at least of the March 4 votes for the nomination. Also, I supsect. Obama independent and republican voters would vote republican in the General Election.

The reason there are so few female politicians is that it is too much
trouble to put makeup on two faces.
- - Maureen Murphy Maureen Murphy is a former Illinois state Representative, was chairman of the important state Revenue Committee and served as chair of the Cook county Republican party.

Maureen Murphy led the First Congressional District Chair supporting Fred Thompson in Illinois.

Maureen Murphy was part of a strong push in Illinois to support Mitt Romney. The same individuals who were backing Romney in Illinois professed a strong backing for Jeb Bush in 2012l

Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney have both pulled out of presidential contention.

So, what went wrong with Romney's good looking run to the White House?

One problem is the circulation of the story that Mitt Romney's great grandfather had five wives, and his great, great grandfathers had twelve wives.

Take a poll to determine how this circulating story affected Mitt Romney's campaign.

The illogic of this forefather deficit is that of all the Republican candidates, Mitt Romney is the only one to have remained married to the same woman.

John McCain has been married twice, Rudy was married three times (Newt Gingrich was likewise married three times).

Hillary Clinton is not the only First Lady whose husband committed adultery while in office. In fact, it is believed by many historians that when Franklin Roosevelt died in Warm Springs, Georgia, FDR was in the company of his mistress.

"The biggest difference between my husband and the other candidates is that my husband has had only one wife." Ann Romney introducing Mitt at a Missouri GOP dinner.

While most of us are twiddling out thumbs waiting for the Clinton and McCain confrontation to begin, we generally waste time polling political trivia.

In the celebrity endorsement category, actress Jenna Jameson has endorsed Hillary Clinton. While actress Mary Carey continues to vacillate between Hillary and Barack.

Some of you may remember that actress Mary Carey conducted a spirited gubernatorial campaign against Arnold Schwarzenneger for the top spot in the California elections.

How much influence the adult acting community can exert on the presidency is one of those many thumb twiddling experiments conducted while waiting for the Clinton and McCain confrontation to finally begin.

Also in the thumb twiddling trivia department is the question of how Bill Clinton will be introduced should Hillary win over McCain. Would Bill Clinton be introduced as 'The First Man' or as 'The First Husband?'

We surely can't be introducing Bill Clinton as Mr. Vice President, can we? And will Hillary tag Barack for her V.P. running mate, and would Barack accept? We can only poll ourselves into oblivion in the interim.

We anxiously anticipate a lot more polling and trivial prognostications while waiting for the Clinton and McCain duel to finally get started.

So, polls show Hillary Clinton losing to John McCain in a general election while Obama polls well against Mr. McCain, yet...Mrs. Clinton leads in all three March 4th states.

If there is a way to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory, Democrats have shown a distinct talent for finding that way.

The below voters comments about female politicians echoes attitudes that should have become extinct long ago. That, along with the Hillary nutcrackers and toothbrushes that read "First Cleaning Lady" should wake-up those who have forgotten about why we need a woman in this office.
