Sen. Clinton Wins Narrow Victory in Missouri

In another close contest, NPR projects that Sen. Hillary Clinton will win a narrow victory in Missouri. With 87 percent of the polls reporting, Clinton leads 50 percent to 47 percent.

Update: The Associated Press has pulled back from its projection of a Clinton win in Missouri, and several of the TV networks are now calling the state for Barack Obama. NPR is holding back until we can get a more accurate count of the returns. Stay tuned.

The missouri projection is too early. Clinton is above Obama by under 10,000 votes, and those that remain to be counted are in districts where Obama is running 2:1 ahead of Clinton.

NY Times projects Obama over Clinton in Missouri 49% -48% with 97% reporting. NPR, did you call this too soon?

Your count is off...Obama is now in the lead. I hope somebody from NPR actually reads this as he's been ahead for a while...waiting patiently for the correction.

It was pretty easy to see it trending for Obama at the end, looking at the county results. I wonder how npr did the projection? Just guesswork? Or did they actually do the math.

Along these lines...on what grounds was California called? Your coverage on this can shape the election, so I think we would all appreciate accuracy and objectivity. Thanks!

NPR obviously pays no attention to the details. I've been watching MO's county results all night, and you could tell it was going to be really close. St. Louis County and Boone County were the last to be counted, and they put Barack over the top.
They might be doing the same thing by calling CA so early. Although the exit polls favor Clinton.
