eBay's Meg Whitman Joins McCain Team

Meg Whitman, president and CEO of eBay, will join Sen. John McCain's team as one of its national co-chairs. In a press release earlier today, the McCain campaign announced that 'Whitman will play a lead role in the McCain campaign. In addition to helping with finance activity, Whitman will be a prominent surrogate for John McCain, travel the country on his behalf, and help the campaign with policy development."

NPR's Scott Horsley, who has been covering the McCain campaign notes that Whitman has been easing her way out of eBay -- she'll be stepping down as president and CEO on March 31, just in time to devote her energy to the McCain campaign. Whitman also used to work at former Mass. Gov. -- and one-time GOP presidential candidate -- Mitt Romney's private investment firm, Bain Capital.

"I'm honored that Senator McCain has asked me to become a part of his campaign," said Whitman in the release. "America needs John McCain's courageous leadership. His unshakable commitment to lower taxes, strong trade, and innovation sets the right course for America's economy and future prosperity. I'm enormously excited to be a part of his team and believe in his vision for our country."

Comments

Basically people have been asking me how I might keep ahead of the game of getting buried in comments. Being that I am going against a couple hundred radical Michael Moore/Barack Obama al-Qaeda sympathizing Liberal Utopians who've migrated from belly-up Air America Radio over to NPR.

Well, for one, whenever I make a comment, I copy and paste and email it to my favorite sources. So that my comments are never totally lost in Liberal Utopian spam.

Next, whatever is the latest topic of conversation, I'll try to get something in there. So, that's where you moderates and conservatives can always find me.

In fact, that's where logic minded liberals can find me, liberals like myself who are worried about the radicalization of American politics by the Obama Liberal Utopians.

It's a bit difficult to comment on a McCain story around here, since most everything is about Hillary and Obama fighting about racism and sexism.

So, when we get to McCain, we start getting into the area of agenda beyond mud slinging. Of course, McCain and the GOP have the distinct advantage of being much more organized than the Democrats. The Dems are looking more and more like a Latin American soccer match with knife stabbings, than a political conversation.

While the Democrats are playing World Wide Wrestling, John McCain is evenly putting together his campaign to present to the American voters in November.

The Democrats are pretty much stuck at the point of asking their constituency what weapons they will take with them to the Denver Convention. The other night I had an image of a massive fistfight breaking out on the Denver convention floor. Then I remembered that Liberal Utopians can't fight. All they can do is cheer for al-Qaeda.

All the same, it would be an interesting handkerchief swinging event to see the Democrats get somewhat physically violent with each other. You wonder what these internet radicals would actually do in a face-to-face confrontation. Besides cry.

I've been watching McCain videos of interviews. As I mentioned in an earlier comment that might have gotten lost in the spam of Obama Liberal Utopians screaming that it's all Hillary's fault.

I'm genuinely impressed with McCain's calm and thoughtful delivery. He was even asked about his infamous temper. He admitted he had one. Real calm and collected like. He didn't call anyone a racist or a sexist. He said that America was ready for either a woman or a black as president. But that he was willing to stack his experience up against anyone.

The man is getting good. Real good. Republicans are starting to take notice. Democrats like myself are starting to take notice. We see McCain putting together a solid team. Something that the Democrats don't seem to be able to accomplish.

So, it comes down to McCain's well organized system as opposed to the Democrats Texas Death Cage Match.

My hunch is that once Hillary finally disposes of Barack (who will inevitably blame his loss on Hillary), then we can get down to two experienced candidates facing each other on issues that don't have race and sex baiting as the main ingredient.

If it comes down to a Democrat winning, Hillary is by far the better choice there. She will give John McCain and intelligent run for his money.

In the meantime, let's all sit back to watch the Barack Obama side splitting sideshow of creating a race war out of a campaign.

Barack started out good. He quickly disappointed many of us Democrats. But, what else can you expect from inexperience?

Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Il would use Barack Obama for a toothpick, much less lunch.

It's comforting to see McCain putting together a professional team that doesn't involve wrestlers hitting each other with chairs.
