FL Democratic Party Chair Says Mail-in Vote Unlikely

It looks like the plan put forward by some Democrats in Florida to hold a mail-in ballot on June 3 may not go forward after all.

Karen Thurman, the chairwoman of the Florida Democratic party, says that the plan is in trouble. The Associated Press reports that when she was asked by the media if the plan will be implemented, Thurman said, "I have a feeling that this is probably closer to not, than yes."

In a call to MSNBC this afternoon, Thurman said that some things had happened since she made the proposal to Florida Democrats last night that "put it in doubt." Thurman said that the Florida secretary of state was concerned about the verification of signatures issue.

"If this becomes something that we can't do, then we can't do it," Thurman said.

Thurman said she would spent the weekend talking to state Democrats, and will make a decision by Monday. But she also acknowledged that Sen. Barack Obama has concerns and the Democratic National Committee won't support a proposal unless both candidates back it.

Comments

Back in January, when I was in Florida, I mentioned how amazed I was by the apathy of the Democrat voters.

Now I can mention how angry the Florida Democrat voters are about having been treated like morons by Howard Dean and the DNC.

Yeah, all you had to do to get the Florida Democrats riled up was prod them with a stick like they were nothing but reptiles. Howard Dean has done a masterful job of lumping Florida Democrats into a Serpentarium pit.

Come November, Florida Democrats are going to be voting Republican, thanks to Howard Dean and the DNC.

The January vote in Florida among the Republicans was very spirited. John McCain won out over Mitt Romney after a long day of back and forth count. The Florida Republicans feel very good about themselves. They don't spend all their time condemning those of their party, as the Democrats have become very solid at doing to each other.

Another point, I'm personally very pleased that I am receiving a good many correspondences from Floridians who say to me that, yes, they were lackadaisical about last January's Florida vote.

I've had more than a few Florida voters thank me for waking them up to the realities of Barack Obama's inexperience.

I got this one e-mail that said that the more I get those Michael Moore Liberal Utopian bloogers on NPR to talk, the more it gets people aware of what I've been saying about the inexperience of Barack Obama and his inexperienced band of lemmings.

Liberal Utopians of NPR blogland, keep on keeping on. Your inexperiened Mao Little Red Book ranting is doing wonders to make voters aware of how dangerous an element Barack Obama is to America's foreign policy and national security.

Fred, from you colonic view I would guess that you are over 70 and make over $500,00.00 a year or you are under 40 and have never served in the military especially back in that police action of the 60's and 70's. Back then a persons word meant that what they said was what they meant and when people in a position of power signed an ageement they stuck to it. If this were a republican issue Bush would get behind his boy and probably pass a law. Rather than rant and rave, give us some meaningful dialogue.

Goodness, Fred! I'm having literally the opposite experience. This is just so interesting.

Do you know that I sat in a room filled with Democrats for Hillary.
Every single one changed their votes to support Barack Obama. True story...and the interesting thing is that their friends changed as well. People are disgusted with the inappropriate and questionable conduct of the Clintons and their staff.

Then, I met a former civil rights advocate who also changed their vote from Hillary Clinton to support Barack Obama.

Multiple Republican doctors have told a friend of mine that they intend to vote for Obama.
Want to know why, Fred?
Their experience was that Sen. Clinton hurt health care when she initially attempted to "fix it" in what turned into a disaster, where she used closed door tactics that left major players in the health care system out and which left many feeling quite angry and upset with how she treated people, when her husband was in office as president.

From that point on, there has been - according to physicians that a friend knows, a very negative cut-throat type of environment in health care. Some physicians attribute this negativity to the outcomes that were led by Sen. Clinton and the manner in which she both positioned herself, and in the style of management she used to accomplish her goals ( which never got accomplished because she turned off and polarized so many people).

To this day, there are quite a number of physicians very angry because their experience is that health care was never as cut-throat and uncooperative as it has now become between the insurance companies, patients and doctors.
One doctor stated that he didn't want to see our soldiers in Iraq for another 100 years. He said his associates will not vote for Hillary, but would vote for Obama or McCain, but currently they are leaning towards Obama. They like his leadership style, his forthright manner, his clarity, his composure, his ability to bring people together. Something very much needed concerning health care.

But it doesn't end there.

A life-time Republican and his buddies were out at the pub, Fred. And guess who they are voting for?

OBAMA. Yes - ALL Republicans...and good people who care about their community, who care about fiscal responsibility, who care about helping the poor across America, who care about improving education, healthcare, business opportunities, and the building up of communities across America.
So many people that I've spoken to want a change, and they see Sen. Obama as the person who can bring change about.
They're sick and tired of the politics of old that misleads the public, misrepresents information, that takes care of the privileged, and ignores hard working Americans who end up having to pay for the outrageous conduct of elected officials who pad their pockets, seek opportunities to benefit themselves, and then proceed to pass the COST on to consumers.

It's like some members of Congress who cut deals with corporations that padded their own interests, only to then end up costing the consumer.
REAL LIFE SITATUATIONS WHERE PEOPLE ARE LOSING THEIR HOMES - ... kind of like WHITEWATER, Fred...Whitewater revisited, all across America.

I can't wait until Sen. Obama is on the ballot. We need integrity in our White House, along with ethical conduct, honesty and a commitment to SERVE THE NEEDS OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

And if you think that's not true, you better start sitting up, because I've heard of movements now being organized (people are so fed up and angry with the outrageous conduct of party officials in Flordia and Michigan) - that all sorts of alternate plans on how to vote are being thought out, should Sen. Clinton actually believe she can rob the people of their right to express their decision.

As for Florida and Michigan, I think it's disgraceful what was done to those voters, and I hope they vote every single one of those party officials OUT OF OFFICE for CHOOSING to move up the primary - KNOWING that THIS would be the sanctions imposed.

Accountability and Responsibility - two more reasons for why Senator Obama is the right choice for Commander in Chief.
He's a man of his word, and he holds himself and his staff to standards of ethics and integrity that are desperately needed across America.

I am not sure why you are hearing just the opposite from me, Fred, but I've never seen anything like this before.
REPUBLICANS - MANY, TELLING ME THEY ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA!!!!!

I'm telling you - every word of it is true, and I am meeting more and more people who are fed up with the politics of lies and dishonesty, of self-serving interests, of greed and dishonesty, of arrogance and entitlement.

Senator Obama's record stands as a pillar to his ability to summon strength, unity, and commitment to bring about the necessary changes we desperately need across America.

I suppose having ten military generals supporting his candidacy helped as well.

Who better to attest to WHO is best capable of serving as a commander in chief than our military commanders who stated the other day: We need someone with composure who can unify our nation, who will make the RIGHT JUDGEMENT CALLS, WEIGH ALL THE INFORMATION NECESSARY TO MAKE THOSE TOUGH DECISIONS BEFORE MAKING THEM, ... someone who is solid like a rock - BARACK, THE ROCK.

Someone who has the composure to focus and weigh the difficult choices - someone like: NO DRAMA, OBAMA!

I thought those were such great phrases for a military general to use!

That is so strange that you and I are having such opposite stories being told to us.

I suppose that is what makes America so wonderful. We can have so many different opinions; but this time around the voters are not going to be fooled and mislead. This time around, voters are not going to have their votes stolen away. This time, Americans want accountability in their elected officials, not excuses, blame and more acts of misconduct.

Clarity begins with TRANSPARENCY.

Sen. Obama released his income tax returns, Fred.

I wonder what is up with Hillary Clinton and why she hides her returns from the public? What must be in there that she doesn't want anyone to see?
What is she hiding?

God bless America.
And God bless Senator Obama and all his military generals stepping forward from the Navy, the Air Force, and the Army - to give him their support.

Gee, I thought it was the inept Florida Legislature who created the problem by moving the date of their State primary forward so Florida could get some publicity, as if Florida needed any more election year publicity. These are the same guys and gals who are cutting the education budget in a State the ranks near the bottom and the same folks who use a single test, the FCAT, to grade out their schools. As the bard said, "the fault dear Brutus is not in our stars, but in ourselves."
