"Obama-Like" Crowds for Clinton in Pennsylvania

For most of the Democratic presidential campaign, it's been Sen. Barack Obama who has been drawing the huge crowds. Not in Pennsylvania, where his rival Sen. Hillary Clinton is packing them in as she travels the state.

Primary Colors, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's political blog, writes that "Since landing in Scranton last Tuesday Clinton has racked up more than 12,000 bodies at various campaign stops along the way."

But the really big numbers came Saturday during St. Patrick's Day celebrations, when 300,000 people saw her march in Pittsburgh's parade.

"Clinton was hardily cheered without stop all along the parade route, turning the annual wearing of the green into one big campaign stop. While there was a healthy number of Barack Obama signs along the way, the crowd and the moment was hers."

Tom,
Are you certain that a St. Patty's day parade is a good gauge?

I am half Irish so I might get half in the bag tonight.

Pitty those poor snakes eh!

Have a good day then.

I am so weary of NPR's political bias; it's become blatant and pathetic. We KNOW you prefer Hillary, but I'm angry that a supposedly "progressive" station like NPR should constantly award headlinces and silly stories like this one--Hillary "drawing a crowd" (it was a PARADE for God's sake)--of 300,000. Please back up your claim that "the moment was hers." Really? You interviewed every individual at the parade and asked for his or her political allegience? I'm disgusted and annoyed and as an avid listener of 12 years (since I was 18 years old), I have begun avoiding your coverage of everything these days, as I find myself shouting at the radio at another lead story covering Hillary's "momentum" or her stalwart supporters (i.e., older white people) in outrageously subjective and manipulative ways! You are losing important people like me, people who are younger and want an alternative to commercial news and radio. You are turning us off and enraging us with your bias. I and many like me are staying away as well (I know this because they tell me). Shame on you, NPR. Shame on your elitist, speudo-liberal reporters who spend too little time understanding the demographic they claim to seek: me. (Removing Bob Edwards, as if that would reel in the "youth"). Enough already!!!

"Since landing in Scranton last Tuesday Clinton has racked up more than 12,000 bodies at various campaign stops along the way."

When Obama came to Dallas he had 17,000 pack an area and an estimated 2,000 overflow outside.

Hillary had 1,200 several days later, somehow 12,000 at "several stop" doesn't seem even close, it sounds a lot like spin form the Hillary camp.

Jena seems to want an ideological litmus test for NPR to pass before she will listen to their reports.

I listen to NPR not because they claim to be "progressive" which is the label Jena stuck on them and the criticized them for not living up to. I listen to NPR because it is a solid source of information and one of the few non-print mediums to be worth listening to or watching.

Perhaps Jena wants NPR to be a liberal version of Fox. But as a college teacher I can say that young people need all the help that they can get in learning about domestic politics and international relations as they have become the first generation in U.S. to go backwards educationally rather than forwards.

NPR is certainly biased, but not for Hillary. You run everything about Obama, but do not get into the nitty gritty of his pastor and their relationship. He can't attend a church for 20 years and not know what this pastor has been preaching. Then say he is dismissing him from his campaign as an adviser because he doesn't believe in what he stands for !! GIVE ME A BREAK..........

Please Kathy, get over Obama's pastor, that is soooo yesterday...if you want a revolution...listen carefully to what Obama is saying, not his pastor...there's your break..take it!
