Clinton Pledges to Create 3 Million New Jobs

Continuing her focus on the economy, Sen. Hillary Clinton told the attendees at the AFL-CIO's Pennsylvania's convention that she plans to create 3 million new jobs if she is elected president. Clinton plans to create the jobs through increased investments in the nation's infrastructure. Her plans would involve building "a greener, sleeker 21st century highway and transit system."

"President Bush has stood by and watched as we've lost 3 million manufacturing jobs. And he's done nothing about the loopholes in our tax code that actually encourage companies to ship jobs overseas," said Clinton. "It's time for a different approach. I'll fight for every single job in America -- and create millions of new, high paying jobs that can't be outsourced. We're trying to run today's economy on yesterday's infrastructure -- and we're jeopardizing tomorrow's prosperity. So I will rebuild America -- by rebuilding, repairing and modernizing our infrastructure."

But in an interesting moment in another part of the speech, she admitted that she had, well, benefited from President George Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy but that she didn't want them.

"Now, I never thought I'd say this but ever since my husband got out of full time public service, he's actually made money, much to both of our amazement. But I have to confess, as recipients of all of George Bush's tax breaks, I can tell you I didn't need them, I didn't want them, I didn't ask for them. And when I am president, we're going to take those back from people making over $250,000 a year in America."

Not to mention that part about "my husband making money," which will probably renew calls for her tax returns to be released.

Infrastructure development as a source of jobs seems like a good idea, though I think I'd rather see private business (not corporations mind you) invest in this. Especially if they embrace the "waste is food" system.

There are more significant ways to improve the economy though. Namely, printing our own money, and re-instating usury laws.

Proof is the Pudding (and the CBS film footage in Bosnia)
as recipients of all of George Bush's tax breaks, I can tell you I didn't need them, I didn't want them, I didn't ask for them.
Cynicism?
OK, good commander-in-chief tested at the hostile firing ranges of Bosnia.

There is a way out of the Bush largess.
Out with your tax returns: We will find that you gave the unwanted, unneeded, excess tax returns to charitable causes for the people you champion - the poor, the white, the middle class old America.

Where are those taxes?

If I could just have a list of everything that every pre-president in my lifetime said they were going to do once they became president but didn't, it would be a great start on a very long work of fiction.

Maybe instead of campaigns being about meaningless promises, they could be about something equally meaningless but more entertaining. Perhaps instead of debates, badminton tournaments or potato sack races could help America decide.

The basic question should be in a plan to do create these jobs! If a candidate is merely trolling for votes, their plan (or lack of a plan) will expose this. If you say you're going to create that many jobs (I assume in the manufacturing sector as this is what Clinton is touting in Pennsylvania), then just how is she planning on accomplishing this? From my vantage point, until we are able to get the power structure to rally around the soverienity of the USA, we may as well forget it. The almight dollar will be the only bargaining chip. This is so sad.
