McCain to Release Tax Returns

Republican presidential hopeful John McCain is preparing to release his tax return today, providing a window into the finances of one of the nation's wealthiest Senators.

John McCain's release follows disclosures by Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton about their family income.

Obama reported this week that he and his wife made $4.2 million dollars last year. Most of that was from book royalties. The Clintons sought an extention in filing their tax return. But the Clintons say they earned more than 20-million dollars in 2007. About half of that was for Bill Clinton's speeches.

Most of McCain's family assets are in his wife's name. Cindy McCain helps to run a large beer distributor he father founded. The Associated Press says she's worth up to 100-million dollars. John McCain earns a Senator's salary of $150,00, plus a Navy pension of about $56,000. His own book royalties also may have jumped, now that he's the presumptive GOP nominee.

Just don't show him the Queen of Diamonds. I'm concerned that the media hasn't focused on the programming he underwent while a POW in Vietnam. Can we really trust him to do what's best for the country? I think his marriage to an heiress is just a cover.

Somewhere at Moveon headquarters a keyboard clicks away as the scent maryjane wafts gently into the room.
