Obama Picks Up Three Superdelegates, Clinton Two

OK, get out your scorecard.

We blogged about this a bit earlier today, but the superdelegate endorsements are coming in fast and furious.

Sen. Barack Obama has picked up the endorsements of three Democratic members of the House of Representatives today: Iowa Rep. Bruce Braley, Indiana Rep. Baron Hill and California rep. Lois Capps. That makes it 77-77 in House endorsements for Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton. Obama leads in the Senate 18-13.

Meanwhile Sen. Clinton picked up the endorsements of Pennsylvania superdelegate and AFL-CIO biggie Bill George, along with Puerto Rico's Luisette Cabanas.

Since his loss in Ohio, Obama has picked up 41 superdelegates, Clinton ten. Since his loss in Pennsylvania, Obama has picked up ten supers and Clinton six. There are 235 left to publicly declare support for either candidate.

Clinton leads 262 superdelegates (only, not overall total) to 242.

As members of the body of Christ, Mr. Obama and Rev. Wright must reconcile their differences. All professed believers in Christ should not be joyful in this situation. Yes Rev. Wright is Mr. Obama Pastor and under shepherd Trinity United Church of Christ. as he should respect his pastor and I believed he tried to follow biblical teaching

Good job Obama - keep em coming let's close this thing already and get Obama into the nomination race. Sick and tired of hearing Hillary's lies and political jargon, her hands are in too many purses. Change is what we need and Obama is the man to do that. WE NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT.

It looks like it won't be long before Sen. Clinton is going to run out of ways to subdivide the contest to create a category where she is still winning.

CHANGE AND HOPE. HOPE AND CHANGE.

New rhetoric for old! New rhetoric for old!

I am happy to see Barrack picking up Super Delegates, in lite of Rev Wright's comments. Americans, must look at where we are in the wolrd, before we condemn this man for his pastor's comments. We cannot afford to have history repeat itself. We cannot go another 4 years with Bush like ideas. We also cannot afford to have a person in office that will cause more riffs between our country leaders. So the clear choice is Obama

change won't come from a black man with a chip on his shoulder.

Hillary Clinton is the President for all the people. The endorsement of Maya Angelou speaks volumes. Hillary has shown concern for children and families. she is the pragmatic, competent leader needed at this time--not the rock star, new kid.

Lynda, Please! Clinton is NOT the president for the people or else she would be winning!

First, Wright is wrong for jumping into the spotlight when Obama is making his historic run for president. If he really was in Obama's corner, he'd stay off stage til after the election, then has his say. Right now he's a weight on Obama's campaign and he should shut up, sit down, and be quiet. He would not have a light to be in if it were not for Obama at this point in time. I think Obama will continue to pick up Super delegates despite Wright, and will secure the nomination. The first black man to have real chance at getting elected is bound to have hell along the way. Wright is that proverbial crab in a barrel...

"..Mr. Obama and Rev. Wright must reconcile their differences..."

The same guys who gleefully dig up Pastor Wright at each turn seem to loathe digging up Pastor Hagee or Pastor Parsley even once in a while.

Pastor Wright is an American Patriot who served in the Marines

it is clear that even with the wright issues, gop does not want to face BHO... hopefully the supers are a bit more worldly than the working class gang that is happy to watch and be molded by things that will have no affect on their life.
Unions are nuts, they are voting for Mark Penn to coordinate the death of the union; I guess they missed the NAFTA clips where Billary clealy touted NAFTA, forgot the Canadian flap in OH, and unions must believe that Colombia is a non issue. I am for trade agreement but once burned I sure would take a closer look at exactly what Billary if fighting for.

"change won't come from a black man with a chip on his shoulder."

Isn't that a telling statement? What does the word 'black' add to that sentence besides making your motivations crystal clear?

Lynda, you said "Hillary Clinton is the President for all the people. The endorsement of Maya Angelou speaks volumes." The volume I see is that Angelou remembers what Bill Clinton did for her. Her public exposure from speaking at his inauguration event was appreciated and the HRC endorsement is a small expression of her gratitude. Surely you are not suggesting that Angelou is a neutral voice, are you?

Dan that's pretty disturbing.

The bad things Obama's closet should be hidden from view until after he is inserted in the White House? Then we can really know who he is?

Sent by deek | 10:59 AM ET | 05-01-2008

Let us change that to read:
"change won't come from a man (or woman) with a chip on his (or her) shoulder."

Which seems to suggest that change is not possible: One must be driven, and be able to view oneself as a potent agent of change - supremely positioned to bring about that change.
That view of oneself may be termed "having a chip on the shoulder". Where did you hear the phrase "the urgency of now"?

Your choice.

We have no idea what the totality of your view is. So far you don't seem to be familiar with, or even aware of, the existence of a Sen Clinton's or a Sen McCain's closet.

Quite a feat. And that raises our suspicions regarding the motives behind your pronouncements and observations.

It is interesting to hear about change. Yes, we all want change from our current state of affairs. However, we must be pragmatic about how it could be done realistically, and not as a campaign slogan. We heard about about President Bush being elected on similar slogans just a few years back. Did it materialize? The entrenched bureaucracy in Washington, in my mind can be changed by those insiders with different ideas and ideals, and not by campaign speeches. No body has done it ever, and no one will.

Mr. Obama's speeches are great, but his own life example, in my mind fails to support that. I recently heard a speech by Obama's wife about how they just finished paying off the student loans. One, who had made close to million dollars or more a year, sure could have paid off the federally subsidized low interest student loans earlier, to set an example so that more poor students could get them, and save the US treasury and we the tax payers from underwriting this subsidized interest costs for us.

They claimed to have grown up poor, with a good feel and understanding for low income and middle income American families. But, look at the house they live in. Please search: www.Google.com . I do NOT know of too many middle income professionals with an average of 6 to 8 years of college education: the accountants, engineers, teachers, professors with similar background as theirs and with no inhertience or special favors, afford a mansion like they do. How did they do it? May be, Mr. Obama could teach us a lesson about money management. Was it due to generous donation from from one of his supporters... Rizzo or whoever that guy was. Why don't we the middle income professionals get such benefactors? Why does the media just go by the legalistic explanation that there was no "quid pro quo" in this, and look underneath.

Sure, all politicians are same.. Clintons, McCain, Bush and the rest of the gang. So, why does Obama claim to be above all of these, and let all of us believe in a campaign speech, and fail to see beyond the words!!

We already know that he stopped using his father given name: Barrack Hussein Obama because "Hussein" is apparently a bad word to us because of its association with Saddam Hussein.

We now hear from him that, after over 20 years of being mentored by Rev. Wright who understandably is upset with the treatment of Black Americans in USA, and using some spirited languages may not jive well with the American voters, is now a political NO NO to the Obama campaign.

So, what does he really stand for? Change or talk about change that politically sounds good?
