Obama to Appear on 'Meet the Press' for Entire Hour

NBC is trumpeting its "exclusive" interview with Sen. Barack Obama this coming Sunday on Meet the Press. Obama will be host Tim Russert's only guest for the entire hour.

It's fair to say that this is a decisive moment for Obama. If he comes off looking confident and in control, it will help him a lot in Indiana, North Carolina and with the superdelegates. If he looks bad, or too defensive or too evasive, it could hurt him badly.

I hope that NBC has an intelligent discussion with him, not one about flag pins. Your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore anyway.

an hour with timmeh? if that's not serving penance i dunno what is. i agree, if he looks bad when compared with the clown across from him, he might just have soe trouble explaining that charisma thingy.

trial by yak show -- wonder what the inquisitors woulda one with that one.

disclaimer: the Association of People Regaled As Tim (APRAT) officially distances itself from the Reveren Timmeh's Church of Half-Baked Journalism. We denounce and detest (and any other verbs Ms. Clinton would like us to pronounce)his performance as a journalist muckieyakkie.

The O-man has continually been defensive and evasive until the issues become to much for his campaign, only then does he respond to them. The O-bots that were hoodwinked by his latest machinations we're predisposed to the hoodwinking anyway; big surprise.

The Obama/Wright splitup was predicted over a month ago almost exactly how it occurred.

"It goes like this. Pastor Wright arranges to give a speech. In it, the pastor makes such outlandish and slanderous claims, not unlike we've already heard, that Obama has no choice but to say, "Enough! Jeremiah has gone too far. I cannot abide his divisive, harmful, and inappropriate language."

And the O-bots say: "Great Leader would never lie to us, he cares for each and every one of us as his children."

Sent by deek | 12:33 PM ET | 04-30-2008

deek, are you saying that HC and JM and GWB... don't lie to us??? Please, do you lie? Come on, BO has been put up against the wall by racists and he has handled himself very well under the circumstances. Plus, none of the white candidates are being grilled and asked to denounce anybody, so why just OB? It's because he is Black and for change!

Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?

This should be interesting to watch...wasn't it Tim Russert that made that comment about Clinton, much like Geraldine Ferraldo(?)had towards Obaman...referring to "what if Clinton were a white man" comment(I couldn't believe he had said that in light of what had previously happened)...how easy it is for some to completely ignore statements uttered from some in the media and attack others verociously...I have no issue with Russert; just thought it was interesting that his statement went unnoticed...bottom line, hopefully this will be a substantial forum and Russert will be objective. Also, considering that Obama has only done one on one debates with Clinton about 4 times, I don't understand how Obama has time to meet with Russert and not Clinton...what's that all about? I would like to see these two compete in a true "issues" forum...I know people think because Obama has stated he has done 21 debates and feels no need to have another one, justifies his denying another debate with Clinton...I think he's intentionally avoiding having to address a head to head "issue discussion" and hopes America will agree with him...

"..If he looks bad, or too defensive or too evasive, it could hurt him badly..."

Looks Management:
Put the glare of the lights on him. Set the lights too close. Put on him a heat lamp too. He will be sweating. Remember Nixon in the Nixon-Kennedy debate?
Set the camera angles just right.
He will look stressed, sweaty and evasive while pre-occupied by the heat. Mangle the audio as well so that he sounds shrill.
And don't forget to ask the enemy how to ambush him with more lies he never heard of before.

Forget the issues. Voters are less interested in policy and more interested in "looks" (and figuring out if they are just plain 'angry' or 'bitter').

Afterwards, you MUST tell the voters what to think - that Prof Obama looked bad and he was too defensive and evasive.

BINGO!

To the young people who never witnessed it and found "To Kill a Hummingbird" somewhat puzzling, the debate in Pennsylvania set the standard in modern-day lynching: Three white people (and a fourth, Hannity) piously ganging up on a black guy - on a national stage. If that panel were to decide Obama's fate, Sen Obama would be no more.

Corollary by Stephanopoulos and Gibson:
Our founding fathers were unpatriotic for not wearing the flag pin. Imagine THAT!

Cheer up, fellow American.

In time you will get used to solemnly standing up whenever the band strikes "Hail to the Chief" and President Professor Barack Obama walks in.

For it is said that in the 1400s and early 1500s, many Irish - who were often shanghaied after being heavily intoxicated/drugged in the coastal Irish pubs - came to USA as indentured workers. [Called it slavery]

Well, it should be interesting to see if Russert can set himself apart from the tabloid journalist crowd by actually asking some substantive questions about policy, rather than harping on all this other inconsequential crap the media's been focusing on.

No wonder they've been doing it, too, considering the short attention span of Reality TV addicted America, and people's voyeuristic curiosity about every facet of public figure's lives.

Oh, and to deek/ard (who is obviously the same, semi-literate person), please clean up your grammar a bit. It's bad enough that you try to express logically incogruent and utterly nonsensical ideas in your posts as it is, without us having to wade through a sea of misplaced letters and punctuation marks.

I almost wonder if not making any sense is some sort of smoke and mirrors tactic on your part...

Anon,

I feel sorry for you...why the need to sling muddy pettiness...are you feeling defeated? While I thank God I am an American, all of us should attempt to respectfully disagree...this appears to be your area of challenge...please try to handle opposing dialogues with a modicum of respect...it will serve you well.

Amazing how much disdain the left has for normal everyday Americans. This is illustrated by "anon" above and by Obama's biggest and most damaging remarks so far; the so-called "bittergate."

The Wright garbage pales in comparison to the implications of "bittergate."

To fukara above, if the nightmare occurs and Obama is our President he will also be my President and I will treat him and the office with respect; something that is absolutely absent from the juvenile so-called "progressives."

Deek, A lot of us are bitter watching the Clintons ravage the nominating process like they did the Democratic party through the nineties, preparing the way for any breathing Republican to take the White House in 2000. Hillary's temper tantrums sunk any chance of health care reform at the beginning of the Clinton debauchery, followed by scintallating sequels in travelgate, Whitewater, Vince Foster, her extraodinary success trading futures, and now blatant lies about dodging sniper fire, fixing Bosnia and Northern Ireland and passing the childrens health insurance bill. Speaking of ravaging, she's so set on Barak walking away from his church on principle, why did she not leave William the Conquerer after Jennifer Flowers, or Pauls Jones, or Monica Lewinsky...No, somehow he was cast as the victim though it's difficult to grasp how a 21 year old Monica was able to by-pass the Secret Service and sneak into Bill's inner sanctum, and having "surprised" the President of the United States, forced unmentionable acts upon the poor guy, so busy trying to do the work of the people. "I did not have sekshul relations with that woman", he lied for a while, purjured himself, ruined the near term future of the country by opening wide the door for GW, and now that it's sort of blown over, Hillary is back to reclaim the family throne... Maybe that's why she didn't leave him.

Except, we presume, when it comes to your handling of Pastor Wright's views.

Poor chap.
With each primary win, and with each new addition to the pile of superdelegates for Sen Obama, you must feel a constriction somewhere - urging you to seek relief and a fresh bout of denial in the blogs.
It is even more desperate since the bitter people don't appear to toe the line you, Bill Kristol, Politico, .. and Limbaugh tell them about what is "biggest" or "most important" or "most damaging".

And I like your stress.
