Wright Appearences Could CauseTrouble for Obama

By now, only penguins in Antarctica are unaware that Rev. Jeremiah Wright will appear on Bill Moyers Journal tonight on PBS. It will probably be the show's biggest audience in many years..

PBS has released some snippets from the show. Here's the video (just in case you haven't seen it one of the 10,000 times it's been shown on cable news networks today):

Conversation about the snippets (which, in that post-modern way things work, is talking about the snippets first used against Wright) centers on the "He's a politician, he says what politician say, I'm a pastor, I say what I have to say as a pastor ..." Reaction is mixed on the effect of these remarks on Obama.

But just in case tonight's appearance doesn't generate enough headlines, Wright will also appear at a 10,000 seat NAACP dinner on Sunday night. And then on Monday, Wright will appear at the national Pres Club in D.C. Sometimes the Press Club has trouble generating media interests in events that happen there - that won't be a problem this time.

Great! A chance to get more than a 10 second impression of what is at the source of the MSM's "big story of the year"

Within this is the devious insertion of team Clinton's lies. This is what Hillary knows how to do best. Is this NPR site also infiltrated by the Hillary foot soldiers. this must as well be a Hillary site.

I wonder if Moyers asked Wright about his friendly visit to Khadaffi? Did he ask about his honoring of Farrakhan?

I guess we'll see.

We do notice that somehow Hillary misleading adverts have been inserted in this.
She would not win by such devious manipulations.

Obama was 20 points behind Clinton before Rev. Wright and 10 points behind after Rev. Wright. I don't see what the damage was.

Pastor Hagee, Rev Wright,Clinton crooks are our officially declared candidates for the presidential race.

What a wicked web we weave...if only Rev. Wright preached his message from Matthew 5:44...this would not be necessary...Rev. Wright should know better...

Hear, hear.

I honestly don't think that there is a single person in this country who is genuinely offended by Wright's comment, or who genuinely think this whole story has any relevance to Obama's character or potential effectiveness as a candidate. I think anyone who claims to be offended, or who claims this is significant, has an agenda against Obama for other reasons, and is just using this to further that agenda. Real people are not affected by this. It's all a show.

Well, I meant for "hear, hear" to come after Gary not John the Baptist.

Let's not forget that Wright served in the U.S. Marine Corps, unlike the following chicken hawks: bush, cheney, wolfowitz, feith, perle, gingrich, podhoeritz, limbaugh, etc. etc. etc. You know what I mean. Feel free to add on folks.

The interview with Pastor Wright was one of the most inspring, moving, and informative interviews I have seen. Kudos for PBS to obtain a closer look at the ministry of Pastor Wright.

Thank you for the opportunity to hear the real Rev. Wright!! I knew "they" had it wrong! You don't take a church from 87 To 6000 by being a wackadoodle!! You provided a wonderful opportunity for us all to grow some. Thank You so much, Rev. Wright!! May you prosper, be protected, and given your rightful place as a wonderful, positive force in our trouble Country!

Wow. I listened to his comments and his sermons. I am not worried at all now. Unfortunately, the haters probably won't listen. I don't feel like this would be such a controversy if people actually took the time to listen to it all. His comments are intelligent, the preaching is emotional, but what he says is not hate speak. It is an exhortation for us to make America better, to insist America be better. I find them to be totally unlike Hagee, whose rhetoric is not only a form of hate speak and intolerance, but also quite juvenile.
Yet somehow it doesn't upset everyone when Hagee says things like Hurrican Katrina was God punishing New Orleans for a gay pride parade.... I really think this whole vilification of Rev Wright is a totally politically manufactured thing.
There are no winners here.

Thanks for presenting the real Rev. Wright. Hearing the man speak makes a big difference in the image created for him. I always knew that the sound bite seemed pretty far out and there was likely something wrong about it. While I am sure that there will still be right wing extremists unconvinced by this insightful view of Rev. Wright, it was reassuring for the middle 80% of America.

Sent by Gary | 9:32 AM ET | 04-26-2008

I would prefer that those who comment upon Rev Wright would do so after listening to him speak themselves. Beware of those who quote him. Beware of those who discuss him without an indepth study of his ministry.

The Rev Wright choose to be a Marine, to lay his life down when needed. This was to defend the very right he was exercising, the freedom to desent. He was turned into an unpatriotic person by Hillary, O'reilly, Hannity and most of the media. Someone let us know who is unamerican. How can someone who is aspiring to be a president not believe in the freedom to desent.

Sent by Ty | 12:10 PM ET | 04-26-2008

Finally we were able to see Wright as a real person. His explanation of the two snippets shown all over made sense. Write seems to be a committed Christian who has worked for social justice and made an impact in the community. Thank you Bill Moyers for bringing this to usand thank you Rev. Wright for your willingness to share.

"Rev Wright choose to be a Marine" and Navy where he grad as valedictorian. Hmmm how many chicken hawks went to military let alone graduated tops of their class?

I lived in Chicago for 25 years in Wicker Park. I was a community organizer and an ER nurse at Cook County Hospital. Chicago is a fabulous city with a beautiful facade. Thank God for those people that live, work and struggle beyond that facade on the South side and West side of town where it can be "horrorville". I think people that live outside of those realities and have not seen the harsh and deepening poverty of many of our inner city communities have no understanding of what it takes to build community coalitions from each person on the street to the whole block.

I know that Barak Obama needs to be our next president. He wants to have an educated citenzentry. He wants a thoughful, informed people that can understand our government and how all of the America people have a place at the table. The European idea of poverty has no place in American democracy. I believe he is our last great hope. He loves this country and what it once stood for before the corner office executives began to steal from the ones on the shop floors. Now we are about to lose our middle class.

Thank you Bill Moyer for bringing Reverend Wright to your show. I hope that all of America watched so that they can see that the televised "hype" from our corporate media, McCain and Clinton campaigns was just that a politcial tar and feathering of a rightous man was done just to further their own causes. Thay are not informing the public of a potential problem with Obama they are once again spreading lies and rumors to keep us stupid. I for one think Rev. Wright and Barak Obama are two people who have nothing but love in their heart for the rest of us. If I was still in Chicago I would make that 45 minute trip South to Trinity Church to worship with the congregation and work in the community.

Daly:
If you want a country where people have no right to speak their mind for the love of their country, but will be shut down, then you need to move to the soviet union. We have virtually become so terrified that the best way to be a good citizen is to lie and pretend, no matter what you see the government doing wrong. No wonder those who said no to the Iraq war were paraded by the Oreilly's as unpatriotic, and today we find ourselves with 4000+ dead and 30,000+ wounded some with half their faces blown off. Maybe you need to watch the whole video. Rev Wright has done more for the citizens of this great nation than you or your elk will ever do.

BS! You the media has villied the man, when he came forward to defend himself you ask why now? Because you don't like it you attack Obama. It's Obama fault.
