Obama Has Good Day with Supers

Sen. Barack Obama's recent problems do not seem to be bothering superdelegates, if the past few days are any indication. Obama has picked up five more superdelegates today and seven votes.

That vote difference comes because the first announcement today came from Joe Andrew who was a Clinton super who is now switching his vote to Obama. That's a two-vote swing. Add one to Obama and take one way from Clinton at the same time.

Then the Chicago Sun-Times reports that Obama will pick up three more Illinois superdelegates next week at the party's state convention.

And the Obama campaign just sent out an e-mail announcing that "Texas DNC Member John Patrick, who is also a 31-year member of the United Steelworkers (USW) as well as a Vice President of the Texas AFL/CIO, brings the total number of superdelegates to endorse Barack Obama to 249." {It's likely the three Illinois delegates are not being counted yet.]

Clinton has not picked up any new superdelegates today.
---
UPDATE: Clinton has one. From Connecticut. John Olsen, president of the Connecticut AFL-CIO and a super-delegate.

AND MORE: Hillary gets four more supers from New York: New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, former Manhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields, New York Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli and New York Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo.

That's five each today.

(Tom Note: Mick is right, it's six votes not seven for Obama.)

Great! A few more days like this and Sen. Obama can redirect his attention to where it should be - toward Sen. McCain.

He has addressed the frivolous GOP/Hillary attempts to draw his campaign into question. He is now battle hardened and ready for business.

It's ironic that the supers could be finishing Hillary off. When she thought they would override the elected delegates and annoint her she was quite clear that she thought that would be just fine. Now I wonder how long it will be before Hillary starts complaining about the unfairness of having superdelegates in the process?

I'm grateful and hopeful again that we are starting to come back to our senses. I am looking forward to helping Obama find his path to the White House.

Your math is faulty. Obama went up by 6 votes, not 7.

You know You Obama lovers kill me. The guy stands up in front of you and states he doesn't take money from Lobbyist, meanwhile USA Today does a front page article on how he skirts this issue head on and as it turns out DOES take money from lobbyist. (See USA Today for March 16th)
Then in his statements about this 'thing he needs to put behind him" He boldly claims that this Reverend Wright is "not the man I knew twenty years ago" well forgive me but didn't he also say this guy baptized his children, are they both over 20 years old?
Not only has he done an about face on his claim he wouldn't turn his back on this man, but he lies just as often as any other candidate. He isn't the Prince you are making him out to be.

Mick: Sit back, take a deep breath and relax: The scenario unfolds fast.

Do you remember that, only 6 months ago, Sen "Moonshine" was probably pondering the hard task of re-decorating the White House - and Monica's Bill had fresh visions of the good life in the Oval Office?

By the time you finished writing your piece, or shortly thereafter, your math may have been rendered faulty.

"Bold Deceit and Bizarre Logic" / Hillary '08, WRONG for America

" .. he lies just as often as any other candidate..."

So, let me guess: You will NOT vote in November.
And you have never voted: You are waiting for Mr. or Ms. Perfect.

Well. The rest of us (imperfect humans) are not waiting.

Just commentin' in a free America. The echo chamber needs dissent.

Sent by deek | 4:00 PM ET | 05-01-2008

deek, you are not dissenting you are just echoing the other chamber so that in this chamber you sound like dissent

Sent by Fran | 10:09 PM ET | 05-01-2008

Fran, I disagree.

I find it heartening that you admit to the echo chamber-ness.
