Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the deaths of three Mississippi civil rights workers. James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were released from the Neshoba county jail, where they were briefly held for speeding. They were never heard from again.

It took 41 years to bring just one of their killers to justice. Yesterday, the U.S. House passed a bill that would help the Justice Department pursue more than 70 other unsolved Civil Rights-era murder cases, by providing more than $100 million for new prosecutors, FBI agents and other resources.

The Senate is expected to pass it soon.

On today's show, guest host Tony Cox talked to Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT), the presidential candidate who sponsored the legislation.
