Members of the legislative black caucus met with the National Rifle Association for nearly an hour this week to talk about the gun violence that is plaguing the city of Philadelphia.
An NRA lobbyist said the organization would work with the lawmakers to curb gun violence. But the NRA opposes a bill that would require people to report lost or stolen weapons.
So far this year, Philadelphia has lost a person per day to gun violence. The city could surpass its worst homicide rate — a total of 406 homicides in 2006.
