Hall and Oates and ??????

So tomorrow, we're going to have on John Oates of Hall and Oates. My intrepid producer found that the band has had 7 platinum albums, 6 gold albums, and 34 hit singles on the Billboard top 100.

So... why is this driving me nuts?

There is a black female folk singer who did a cover of "Rich Girl" but for the life of me I can't remember it. It was a very stripped down, almost bluesy version, as opposed to the more uptempo and argumentative voice in the H&O version.

Who was it who did the cover?

Somebody help me out here!!!

Tracy Chapman? Though I can't imagine she'd do a Hall and Oates cover. Not hatin' though.

Of course it was Nina; everyone over 45 knows that fact. And speaking of facts, now that Nina has passed over, folks under 25 are getting into her music more and more. I just had one of my students ask me to rip "Sinnerman" for him.

Can I just tell you thanks for featuring John Oates of Hall & Oates. Like millions who love their music, I'm a fan. I caught them live for the first time last October at the Hardrock.

A family relative who's like a father-figure could not believe I know of H&O (much less go to a concert) because of my age or in his words, "the type of music your generation listens to." I had to prove to him I know of H&O by reciting a few lines from their hit songs. Then he nodded his head and said "your parents raised you right." But I must say he had a point because one of my friends who couldn't reach me the night of the concert was wondering where I was. The next day I told her I was at H&O concert. The next question was "Who's Hall & Oates?"
