If You Could Go to Oprah's Obama Fundraiser ...

Oprah's House

This Saturday, Oprah Winfrey is hosting her much talked-about fundraiser for Sen. Barack Obama. It's a garden party to be held in the backyard of her $50 million, 42-acre estate in Montecito, Calif., right outside Santa Barbara.

The price of admission: $2,300 -- the maximum primary campaign contribution. Oprah is circling the wagons on this event. There's a media blackout and cameras are prohibited -- along with a list of other interesting protocols.

Magic Johnson is hosting his own fundraiser for Hillary Clinton later on.

If you could be a fly on the wall at Oprah's bash, what would you keep an eye out for?

UPDATE (Sept. 10): News & Notes found an inside source -- Voltaire Rico Sterling, an actor living in Los Angeles -- who attended Oprah's fundraiser. Listen to his account of what transpired.

I think this may go down as the most awkward event ever. All those people who paid that good money to get close to Oprah and Obama and peep in on Oprah's house ... they are all going to be fighting for face time. Everyone's going to be doing the fake small talk with one eye peeled for O&O. I would love to see all the fake posturing. And to look Oprah in her face up close. In a weird way, shawty kinda fine when she wanna be, nawwhadimean?

People paid good money because they see a good thing when it stares them in the face. Obama is a man of grace, authencity, values, confident, a man of good judgement. l see a good thing from Obama because he truly wants to change and bring back hope for America.

Oprah attracts women in every parts of the world, so l believe this is a good thing for Obama. He will bring back the true authencity of politics and if he wins, then this is a true demoncracy in America. Afterall, we should do what we preach to the rest of world.

Please no more Clinton's, what new thing will Hilary bring to America that Bill clinton did not bring? she is so deceiptive, a liar and a calculating politician. why does she flip-flop alot? l am honestly done with the Clintons. This not a Monarchy government here or is it? no more the Bush's and the Clinton's! we need honest change. Obama for change and Hope!

And to answer your question, l will be looking for the positives that this celebration will bring to Obama because it is a celebration of change and hope.

I'd be on the look out for Michelle. I think she'll steal the show. She's the trump card for the Obama campaign, not Oprah. gb

Before Oprah's event, which may have been the initial reason for Barack's visit to Santa Barbara, Mr. Obama spoke at the Santa Barbara City College to a diverse crowd of over 5000 people. As a local resident who attended, I applaud Mr. Obama for showing up for the working class people FREE and delivering a dynamite speech that drew rounds of applause and shouts of enthusiastic joy in response to his message of HOPE for our country! He said that he will LISTEN to the American people and bring us back together as one people, focussed on education, health care, PEACE and true Democracy . He placed Humanitarian issues above Imperial/Military/Corporate issues that have been dominating our government for way too long! BRAVO, BARACK!!!! THANKS FOR COMING!

I just listened to the interview with Voltaire Sterling, and I'm a little surprised to hear that Oprah and Obama were as accessible as they were. I don't think that Oprah's endorsement will help move the needle that much. People who would vote for or against him, would probably be oriented that way regardless.

A friend went to the fundraiser at Oprah's home. The account given by her has been completely different then what I have been reading. My friend paid $2,000 to have the opportunity to be there and to hear what Obama had to say. First of all she and her friends were given a color bracelet, depending on how much you donated. They were not allowed to go past a certain area without a different color bracelet. She never saw Oprah at all and Obama spoke for several minutes to the crowd then went up to the house never to return for the evening. It has been told that there was a reception in the house for BLACKS only! I believe my friend (she paid the money to support Obama) My daughter and I went to Springfield, IL to hear him announce his run for the presidency and were very excited for the change Obama would bring. However, now our balloons have been popped and were very disillusioned about this. Is there any one out there that can shed light on this? FYI- my friend is well to do and the Obama camp contacted her to ask if a fundraiser could be held at her home in IL and my friend responded with a polite no and stated that she will now be voting for another candidate.

Responding to L Moss:
Your friend is so very incorrect. Barack and his wife were seated on the Obama 08 blankets enjoying the Stevie Wonder performance. They were very engaged in the performance. Oprah retreated to a blanket and enjoyed the performance as well. I was there seated behind them. Bebe Winans performed a song entitled "Born for Greatness" and Barack was on stage clearly humbled and watery eyed as the songs message was powerful. Oprah came back on stage and closed the night. I was there late and Barack and Oprah were accessible to me and others who were there to the end. All persons were free to mix and mingle with whoever. PLEASE this person is totally INCORRECT!

Attention: Fundraising & Charity Organizations!
You Can STOP The Parade Of Fundraisers And ALWAYS Having To ASK FOR MONEY - by Tapping Into The Billions Spent On Online Shopping!

Ginny Dye
CEO/Founder

There is not an Organization in the world that does not need, or could not benefit from, more money. Everything you do requires money and there never seems to be enough.
You have an ongoing parade of fundraisers or you are constantly asking for money from your supporters. I should know - I've done both.
After years of trying to generate money I decided there had to be an easier way, took note of the explosion of Online Shopping, and knew I had found the answer!

Together We Can Change The World, Inc., was created in 2002 with one goal - to generate millions for the organizations making a difference in our world.
MY POWER MALL, a division of Together We Can Change The World, Inc., launched in March of 2007, is a FREE tool you can use to generate massive, on-going funding! Our vision was to create a company that would allow your supporters to pour revenue into your organization without giving any additional money - while also providing a way for your hard-working staff to generate income. We decided to make this our gift to the world, investing close to a half million dollars in money and time to make it a reality ??? then giving it away for FREE!
The only way to believe it is to see it for yourself!
We are a company...
COMMITTED TO CHANGING THE WAY FUNDRAISING IS DONE!

You may be familiar with Online Shopping Malls but we are different???
One of our primary goals is to be different from every other Mall out there. While there are some great Malls, our commitment is to excellence in every area. Our goal is to help generate MILLIONS for organizations. We can only achieve that by doing everything a "little bit better".
We have more stores than any other Mall ??? 1000+ !
Our goal is, if it can be bought, it can be bought on our Mall. We are committed to providing a vast variety of stores and products ??? with each merchant meeting a strict set of criteria to ensure shopping satisfaction.
There are hundreds of name brand stores, as well as hundreds of lesser known stores that pay higher commissions.
We offer your Supporters the same FREE Mall, enabling them to create their own income - while also creating income for your Organization! Every time they make a purchase you make money!
Exciting Daily & Weekly e-mails promote purchasing. It's not enough to build a great Mall. It's equally important to give you and your supporters a reason to visit us. That's where our exciting weekly newsletters, customized store specials e-mails and all our FREE gifts come in.
This is not MLM or Affiliate Marketing - it is a completely unique marketing system that will ALWAYS be FREE!
You will never have to sell anything, nor carry any inventory.
There are no crazy qualifying games to receive your income.
All Tools are completely FREE. We give you everything you need to succeed!
A back office Administration area allows you to keep track of everything going on in your business.

MY POWER MALL'S mission is to change the way fundraising is done.

Our goal is that no one will buy anything or use a service without benefiting a cause they believe in!

We are already helping thousands of organizations. We would love to help you, too!
With appreciation for all you do to make the world a better place,
Sincerely,
Ginny Dye
