New York Times (Blog): Cheney's Staff Says He Never Saw Confederate Flag -- "Vice President Dick Cheney is embroiled in yet another hunting-related controversy. The vice president made a daylong hunting trip on Monday to the Clove Valley Rod and Gun Club, an exclusive mountainside establishment in Union Vale, N.Y. At least one eagle-eyed photographer captured images of a Confederate battle flag hanging in plain view in a garage attached to the club's headquarters."

Do you believe the response from Cheney's spokeswoman that he "did not see the flag," and does it matter?

I'm a big advocate for giving people the benefit of the doubt. But when it comes to this administration, my benefits bank is almost in the red. Let me count some of the doubts:

Cheney's first hunting trip accident cover-up for about 48 hours before alerting the media." "Brownie you're doing a heck of a job" comment on FEMA's handling of Katrina. Fake news media by said FEMA recently on California's wildfires. Paying a notable journalist in Armstrong Williams to tout "No Child Left Behind." Former CIA reveal in Valerie Plame and Scooter Libby sentence commuted.

I could go on but I think you get the point - I just can't give another benefit of the doubt in this new hunting case. Cheney should just apologize for the faux pas and move on.
