Where Did the Jena 6 Money Go?

Farai Chideya Radio host Michael Baisden has gone head-to-head with the group Color of Change over accountability for the funds raised for the Jena 6 ... something we discussed on our blogger's roundtable.

On Baisden's show, Mychal Bell's father, Marcus Jones, accused the group of misappropriating funds. The Color of Change, on the other hand, has gone so far as to post copies of canceled checks showing how they gave the money to the families.

The website Daily Kos is explaining this fight as "netroots" activists versus "more establishment African Americans."

Do you think that's the issue? And is this undermining the civil rights conversation that came out of Jena 6?

Let's just hope Marcus Jones didn't use the money to pay off his SUV.

are we really surprised by michael baisden? he is routinely misinformed and irresponsible in his commentary. while he is not a journalist, he does have a duty to check his facts before going on-air and raising such serious charges against Colorofchange(CoC). From what I can tell, CoC has been has been nothing but transparent in their accounting practices (which is necessary for their organization's functions). Putting money to their legal defense is where this money should go and Baisden should apologize, profusely, to CoC. CoC has raised the bar and really brought accountability to the forefront of the issue. I wonder will Baisden be so open in his accounting practices.

I believe the term one uses to justify the expenditure is, "Dat's how we roll."

Mr. Baisden is trying to promote his show (T.V. & Radio) by any means. He is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Black Folk beware
