Bhutto's assassination will I suspect not be of much impact on our primary elections here. The average American voter is not particularly tuned into the role Bhutto was playing in Pakistani politics or the value of that role to US foreign policy.

It has quite clearly thrown all of Pakistan into turmoil. Bhutto was in the process of negotiating a power sharing arrangement with Musharaff, a development the US would have welcomed as a stabilizing influence. Her death leaves a serious power vacuum and no clear leader for the opposition to coalescence around. Even with her participation, there likely would have been serious questions about the free and fair nature of elections under a military dictatorship. In the aftermath of her murder, the election results are as predictable as they will be credible.

While Bhutto's time as Prime Minister of Pakistan was marked by a poor human rights record, curtailment of press freedoms and credible charges of corruption, she remained a beloved leader to a great multitude in Pakistan. As in the aftermath of the death of King and Malcolm X, rioting and violence have broken out as communities and neighborhoods come unglued by the trauma of the event and an atmosphere that reeks of barely contained chaos. In the context of civil rights, her killing underscores the weakness of a civil rights movement dependent on a charismatic leader moreso than an effective cadre of leaders and politically educated followers. As with the US civil rights movement which has struggled without clear vision and leadership for nearly 20 years, so to perhaps will be the fate of the Pakistani opposition without the unifying presence of Bhutto to focus their efforts over the next decade.

I was shock to hear that former Prime Minister, Benizar Bhutto was assassinated. This is going to mess up Pakistan real badly because Bhutto wanted to restored democracy to the people of Pakistan , give them what they wanted, have balance, and peace, and get rid of terrorism. Now, since she is gone, Pakistan has become a trouble nation gone chaotic and array. The impact will hit Pakistain and the U.S. hard. The U.S. candidates now have to help Pakistain and do something for them. For Pakistain, the elections will not be postpone and this will give the people more heartake about who will take Bhutto's place to run for president or prime minister.
My heart and condolinces goes out to Bhutto's family, opposition party, supporters, friends, and especially the people and citizens of Pakistian.
There still more circulating questions about how Bhutto died, where were security? , who killed Bhutto, and who is to blame.
