Talk About It:
AP: Mayor Pleads for Forgiveness on TV -- "Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick pleaded for forgiveness from his wife and constituents Wednesday in an emotional but carefully worded televised speech, avoiding direct mention of racy text messages that appear to contradict his sworn denials of an affair with a top aide."

Is this too little too late? Should Kilpatrick step down?

I'm glad that he spoke up and I really feel for him. He was not arrogant, he seemed as if he repented. He should not step down and it was a well crafted speech. He admitted his sins, while pointing out that he still handled his business.

Corey Booker became mayor of Newark and stayed in the projects to prove his commitment to the people. Kwame Kilpatrick became mayor and immediately got involved in a scandal about spending too much of city traveling and leasing his wife a car. I know Kwame has done some good things for the city, but I think that the past few days have shown he is not whats best for Detroit.

This whole scandal is depressing for any Detroiter who at one time supported Mayor Kilpatrick. It is a gross understatement to say that he has done "a few things" for the city. Never in my life have I witnessed so much new building construction in the city. Never have I seen such a concerted effort to improve the quality of our streets. I cannot; however, deny that our mayor has disappointed the citizens of this city greatly by allowing us again to become victims of horribly negative press.

Kwame Kilpatrick should most certainly step down. He is an ongoing embarrassment who continually abuses power.

The american people will fool the news media again this fall
