Condoleeza Rice

According to a Republican strategist, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is pursuing the Republican vice presidential spot.

On a Sunday morning political show, Washington insider Dan Senor said Rice recently attended The Americans for Tax Reform meeting, a weekly gathering of high-powered conservative leaders. It was the first time a secretary of state has ever paid such a visit, Senor said.

Senor continued:

"What the McCain campaign has to consider is whether or not they want to pick a total outsider, a fresh face, someone a lot younger than him, a governor who people aren't that familiar with. ... The challenge they're realizing is that they'll have to have to spend 30 to 45 days, which they won't have at that point, educating the American public about who this person is."

For his part, McCain said "he missed those signals" that Rice was interested.

What would you think of a McCain-Rice ticket?

The GOP must be very desperate to consider Condoleezza Rice as a VP candidate. She was a spectacular failure supporting Bush???s backward foreign policies as National Security Advisor and Secretary of State. The GOP is banking on the stupidity of Americans to accept a McCain-Rice ticket as a new fresh start, but ultimately it would be a continuation of the Bush regime.

Such a ticket is not even going to happen, given the systemic ignorance on the part of McCain involving all peoples of colour. Recall he [McCain] was incarcerated by an Asian peoples and has consistently marred the progress of another two groups of people of colour [Hispanics and Africans]. What African [or Latin] in their right minds would wish to be associated with such an overt and outward manifestion of racism? Further, image a ticket of McCain and Daniel Inouye [wrong party i know since he is Democrat but you get the picture..McCain with an Asian American].

It would make a great reality show, sitcom, or movie. Wasn't Bush bad enough? This is a very bright lady, and it says a lot about the status of women that somebody like her has to work for somebody like McCain to reach high office.

Stinko enough that it will happen.

If she's McCain's pick, GAME OVER. The Dems will rise from the grave to stand in line to take a shot at that ticket.

Go ahead.....pick her. I double dawg dare ya!

Condoleezza Rice is anti-life, is singularly despised by most African-Americans as a disgraceful turncoat, and is blamed, rightly or wrongly, for nearly all of the mistakes of the Bush Administration.

On the other hand, Condoleezza Rice is a brilliant woman. I'd never want to play "Jeopardy" against her, because I would lose miserably. She also suffers from guilt by association, a guilt she mostly doesn't deserve. Aside from her anti-life position on abortion, she would make a great VP.

But, you see, that's the problem. Pro-lifers like me, who will make up a plurality of support for McCain, won't support her. The African-American community won't cross party lines to support. She basically doesn't bring any upside to the ticket. Sure, she's intelligent, but who supports a vice president because they're intelligent. Remember Dan Quayle?

As a political choice, choosing Condoleezza Rice as a VP candidate as a VP candidate seems to be a strong one. Rather than selecting a VP because he or she can deliver a particular state or region, the republicans may believe that Condoleezza Rice's selection may deliver both the black and female vote. This choice offers to offset the Democrats selection of either a black man or a caucasion woman.

From a policy standpoint, Condoleezza Rice's selection would seem to loom as a disaster. This would clearly tie McCain to the failed policies of President Bush and the voters general dislike of the Bush administration. It would certainly save the Democrats in their efforts to tie McCain to Bush.

What is missing in these comments is the strong contributions that Condoleezza Rice would make as part of the Republican ticket.

If it is the same McCain that stood before a crowd of Black folks in Memphis and apologized for voting against the King holiday, he would likely pick Condi to show how he "embraces" diversity. However, the base of the GOP would not stand for it and I think that conservatives would be so outraged by such a ticket that they would vote for Nader.

This entire scenario smacks of the repub media machine floating a name to see what the response will be.
There will be a whole bunch of floating in the coming months.
It will not stop history.
President Elect Obama will change the mind of the world.
That is, of course, if President Obama can be more pressured and supported by the will of the citizens of the world, rather than the corporate jackals of the globe.

Afrifican Americians would never cross the line to vote for Condoleeza Rice. The sad memory of Condoleeza Rice shoe purchase during Hurricane Katrina, still consumes the minds of the African American public. Condi's non-concern for human life, would definately come back to haunt the Republicans.

John McCain And Condoleeza Rice would get my vote. and would even pull a large share of the pro Clinton base, Educated African American women would cross party lines in droves
