You've seen the trailer, but I've read the book, and it is not that good. The event depicted took place on August 12, 1944, when troops from the 16th SS Panzer Grenadier Division killed 560 people in the village of Sant'Anna di Stazzema. No US soldiers, let alone African-Americans, were involved. One villager stated: "It's a false reconstruction that does not take account of the historical reality," adding "This sort of fiction should be banned, otherwise the damage to the memory and historical truth will be very serious." I don't believe in banning anything, and plan to see the movie. That said, Spike Lee needs to get his own glass house together before throwing stones at Clint Eastwood.

To Willie, "Go Spike", at least someone is remembering that over 500,000 African Americans fought in WW2-the 92nd, Tuskegee Airmen-and hundreds of others. I am sure that the accounts in " Saving Private Ryan" or all the John Wayne military movies took historical liberties,with no outcries. It's time AA get credit and recognition for their service, particularly when they were treated so horribly during and after the war by their government, and fellow soldiers. It has only been within the last twenty years that a few have rec'd their Purple Hearts, posthumously of course...again "Go Spike".."until the lion writes history, or in this case makes movies, the hunter will always be victorious"
