Billionaire BET founder Bob Johnson is urging Obama to pick Hillary Clinton as his VP.
While Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice heralded Obama's historic nomination.
Half-way around the world, Kenyan citizens were overjoyed at the news. Wish we were there!
What is your reaction to Barack Obama's nomination?
It is truly wonderful to know there will be some intelligent life at the top of US politics and leadership. I have been living in South Africa since 2003 with a month visit in July of 2005. And i am so glad i do not hear jokes anymore about a moronic president.
But the interesting thing is that there are still many folks here in Southern Africa (maybe it is just the folks i talk to) who just do not believe President Obama will be allowed to be elected. Folks just do not believe it is possible. I have been on the planet since 1950, and this is by far the most interesting global phenomenon i have witnessed. These are indeed the best of times and the worst of times.
Sure glad i started taking my blood pressure medicine, so i can be around to see what happens next.
Meanwhile i will be on the East coast for July to September. Gonna pick up a whole bunch of Obama paraphernalia to bring back to Cape Town. Right now i only have an AMERICANS ABROAD FOR OBAMA decal.
I am hoping the campaign folk make up a few WORLD CITIZENS FOR OBAMA items.
One more thing: A sure indication that Senator Clinton will not be in the VP spot is having Bob the Johnson pushing for you.
For me, seeing someone named Barack Obama who could be the next President makes me hope that folks would start seeing my name as NORMAL. And not subject me to answering questions every time I introduce myself to where EXACTLY I'm from.

There was a white man on CSPAN who has read over 50 books about Abe Lincoln. He compared Abe with no experience to Buchanan who had many more years of experience and was said to be one of the worst presidents in history. This gentleman said "experience is not as important as being smart and having a heart." The commentator asked him who he was voting for and he said "Obama".
This was from W. Virginia.
As a senior white woman I was excited to support Hillary who I always admired. Then I heard Obama speak and read his book and I was deeply moved. This man is intelligent and is passionate about his vision for this country. He gives us hope. Face it folks, the world follows the way of the youth. Maybe Scott McClellen should have run on the Republican ticket!!
I am an American living in Z??rich and am proud to say that the buzz that I hear is positive in regards to Obama. There is a certain optimism that leaves me considering returning (if only temporarily to the U.S.)
I was told after the Iraq war began to love America or leave it. That isn't the reason that I moved to Europe, however.
When I moved here two years ago, people continued to ask me if I was homesick for the states. I could answer quickly and definitively "No". I said clearly, and certainly that I didn't even recognize my country. That I had known many Americas in my life time.
As a navy brat in Georgia, I knew one sort of America. As a college student attending many anti-war protests I saw a different America. As the inner part of the country re-elected Bush I was exposed to an America that I did not know and did not want to know.
Now, when I sit at the breakfast table reading my newspaper, or when somebody realizes that I am an American, I am a bit prouder. Barak Obama has made my country a bit more knowable to me. I am grateful.
For this moment, my simple hope is that the conversation will break out of every frame that isn't true to the game. Obama really does change everything, and that must include the debate of public intellectuals of all stripes and capacities.

I am so pleased and thankful to God for His faithfulness to see a change take place in this country.I am a 56 yr. old African American who thought I would not live to see this event. I cried when Senator Obama won the nomination. All I could think about was my mom,dad,Dr. King and others who never got the chance to witness this great event.
