Chante Moore: P. Diddy Stole My Hit Song for J.Lo

With hits like "Chante's Got A Man," "Straight Up," and "Love's Taken Over," singer Chante Moore -- who has been on the R&B scene for over a decade -- could have had another: "If You Had My Love," as performed by Jennifer Lopez. (Moore's is called "If I Gave Love.")

Moore sat down with NPR's Tony Cox and explained how P. Diddy laid claim to a song she recorded, and had producer Rodney Jerkins write a similar version for Lopez.

The two also talk about the ups and downs of Moore's career, the trials of her teenage years, and her first solo album in eight years. It's titled, Love the Woman.

Take a look:

(We reached out to reps for both Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and Jennifer Lopez for comments. Neither responded by press time. We'll update as necessary.)

Man she really opened up in a short period of time. Two never-before-heard-of- revelations in less than 10 minutes.

Kudos to Mr. Cox.

Wow!

A woman who knows herself! Even when she didn't treat herself well, she knew and recognized the victimizing. Most importantly, she dealt with it as a mature person.

Chante is truly blessed with the wonderful gift of love in deed and word. I admire her more than ever ... she is the only singer who I will let into my heart ... May you forever continue to serenade us with your love.

Great interview! I thought the interview was very candid and real. I appreciated her more as an artist by how well she has been able to handle the challenges throughout her life as well as the music business which can be very ruthless at times. I loved how she handled the situation with P. Diddy and her single being stolen from her. She is exceptionally mature, gifted in her talent and professional at all levels as a singer. I was so inspired by the many projects and tours she had done with her husband. I hope we can look forward to more albums from her and the music industry/media taking a deeper look at all that she has accomplished as an artist.

This was a great interview. I echo everyone's comments about being able to appreciate her even more as an artist now (I had already been playing her new album nonstop!) By choosing to speak candidly yet with class, context and perspective, Chante exemplified what I believe women should strive to emulate.

Can I have any less respect for Jennifer Lopez or Sean "Diddy" Combs? Don't think so.

Great interview!! She's so beautiful on the inside and to understand and articulate so well why these male and underage female relationships are so inappropriate, take note R Kelly supporters!! Kudos to Tony & Chante.
PS. I don't think the name of that song was "Love Don't Cost a Thing" as was stated in the opening paragraph.
