Found In The Archives: The Floating, French Magnetic Egg Cooker

Old newsreels companies liked to feature new inventions, sometimes novelties and sometimes ostensibly useful things.

This 1951 Universal Newsreel features an French electromagnetic egg cooker, which I love for its meeting of sleek modernity and complexity of utter pointlessness.

It is narrated by the great Ed Herlihy — the voice-over guy for Universal Newsreel for years — equally adept at jingoistic politics and bad accents.
