Web Embraces Photo Of Mystery Couple At Vancouver Riots

This image has gone viral around the web — and has spawned an increasingly vociferous debate about what's really going on in this scene, captured during the Vancouver riots after the Canucks' loss to Boston in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals.

"I'm not sure what exactly was going on," photographer Rich Lam says on the phone. "I just saw these two people and I thought they were hurt. ... I didn't really know what I got until the editor pointed it out."

Hopefully the people in the photo will come forth and explain what, exactly, was happening. Is this the V-J day in Times Square of our generation?

[Update at 12:10 p.m. ET: Could it be these people? Performance art? Or is she hurt? Hm.]
