It's time to take you out of your misery.

Never before in the history of ScuttleButton puzzles on this site -- a history that goes all the way back to Dec. 5, 2008 -- have there been so few correct answers submitted.

Is everyone focusing on Susan Boyle at the expense of ScuttleButton? (We may have the same initials, but seriously.) Has it come to that?

Well, we still have an obligation to those who cared enough to

a) Take one word or one concept per button, add 'em up, and arrive at a saying or a name; and

b) Send us their name and city/state (otherwise we can't declare a winner).

And so we do have a winner.

Remember, the answer does not necessarily have to be political. For instance, the answer to a puzzle a while back was "Minnesota Twins" -- not political at all, unless you're thinking Mondale and Humphrey instead of Killebrew and Oliva.

Last week's buttons, in case you forgot:

"B" Democratic/Beat That Tax -- Urging voters (NY? NJ?) to vote Democratic on Line B.

Wayne Morse -- The four-term senator from Oregon (first Republican, then independent, then Democrat) who lost his seat to Bob Packwood in 1968.

Roosevelt? No! No! 1000 Times No! -- One gets the feeling that the wearer of this button didn't especially want President Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a third term in 1940.

Aries for Muskie -- Part of a set of horoscope buttons for Ed Muskie, the senator from Maine who at one time was the front-runner for the 1972 Democratic presidential nomination.

So, when you add B + Wayne + No's + Aries, you kind of get ...

Buenos Aires. I figured, with President Obama focusing on Latin America last week, the capital of Argentina would be a good ScuttleButton puzzle. Sorry if I appeared pampas.

The winner, selected at random among the correct responders, is (drum roll) ... Paul David Wadler of Chicago. Mr. Wadler, for the record, is a licensed clinical psychologist -- which does give him an unfair advantage, methinks.
