Voters in Florida's 19th Congressional District go to the polls today in a special election to succeed Robert Wexler, a Democrat who resigned last month to head up a Mideast think tank.
Whoever wins the Democratic primary — either state Sen. Ted Deutch or former Broward County Commissioner Ben Graber — will be favored to win the seat in the April 13 general election. Democratic voters outnumber their GOP counterparts by two to one. Three Republicans are battling for their party's nomination: Joe Budd, Ed Lynch and Curt Price.
Deutch has the endorsement of Wexler; former President Bill Clinton has also been in the district, which includes parts of Broward and Palm Beach Counties, to campaign for him.
The winner will fill the last nine months of Wexler's term. Nominees for the seat for the next Congress will be decided in the Aug. 24 primary.
