2012 Democratic National Convention To Be Held Week Of Sept. 3

Democratic National Committee chair Tim Kaine announced today that his party's 2012 presidential nominating convention will open in a city to be named on Sept. 3 — the latest the Democrats have ever held their convention.

Just in case you forgot the reason for such an event, Kaine has this reminder:

At the convention, we will re-nominate President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, and re-affirm our party's values of equality, inclusion, diversity, and respect.

Republicans earlier announced their convention will be held one week prior — that of Aug. 27. Phoenix, Tampa and Salt Lake City are considered the leading prospective GOP cities.
