The Plight Of The Senate Freshmen

The Senate Class of 2006 — when Democrats recaptured the Senate (and the House, for that matter) — is the subject of a new book, "A Journey Behind the Closed Doors of the U.S. Senate."

NPR's David Greene, co-hosting "Morning Edition" this week, talks to author Terence Samuel, a correspondent for the American Prospect.  Samuel follows the Senate freshmen of the 110th Congress as they go from a celebrated winner in November to a low-(wo)man-on-the-totem-pole once in Washington.
